5S is about making
our company better
Line 5 and 4 are finally starting to
take shape and seeing the benefits of
Eliminate,Sort, Clean and Standardise.
We have reconfigured Line 5 to
reduce the footprint by 25%. The
benefits of this are twofold:
 Clear pedestrian walkwayatthe
entrance to L4/L5 (previously
partially blocked by spiritIBC and
highlighted as major issue during
eliminate).
 Less waste ofmovement& clear
material flow positions.
Another issue highlighted during
eliminate was the lack of obvious fire
exit and the possibilityof them to be
obstructed.Now clearly marked and
walkways painted to maintain a clear

Further control elements are being
developed to maximise visual
management;enabling information flow
to allow simple and independent
decision making byteam members.
The eliminate,sortand clean phases
are continuallybeing reviewed daily to
maintain our improved standards.
Guidelines for the phases have been
defined and will be used to measureand
sustain our progress.
