“We use the Soluprep every day, 7 days
a week. We make up from 40 to 100
samples a day with it. We use the
SoluPrep to dispense Formic acid
for the dissolution of Nylon samples.
After the Nylon is dissolved in Formic
acid we run Relative Viscosity testing
with the samples. The correct
concentration of Formic to Nylon
is very critical for obtaining accurate
and consistent Relative Viscosity results.
Ever since I started working in the lab,
(more than 20 years ago), we have used
some version of the Soluprep. It is very
reliable, we have very few problems
with it. When the gears in the pumps
get worn then I have to go in and rebuild
them, but that is to be expected.
I know no system is perfect and the
other type systems that use a burette
and Teflon piston probably would
experience a lot of wear because
we do so many samples per day,
40-100. I also assume
the Soluprep is faster
than a burette
and piston
type system.”
