2. Importance
Some important reasons to learn sign language are:
• To strengthen your IQ
• You can make more friends and better communicate with them which can prove
very resourceful
• It can help you on your job resume and open you up to a wider range of
customers, which can help you do your job more effectively
• It helps the attention part of your brain, which can help prevent Dementia
• It can help you look at the world in new and different perspectives
3. Technology Tools
• YouTube: Find a video on YouTube by a reliable source, talking about sign language and how it was
first formed.
• Storytelling: Create a video teaching the differences in grammar and functions of use between
ASL(American Sign Language) and American English.
• WebQuest: Create a WebQuest to teach students the ASL alphabet with interactive videos and pictures.
• QR’s: Have a QR for each day, When the students scan the QR it gives them a sign language review or
word of the day to review or learn.
• Media & Materials: Design an interactive poster to hang o n the wall in the classroom. The poster can
have ASL symbols or motions on it and students can Velcro the correct words underneath of their
symbol.
4. Specific Example: WebQuest
The students will look over the materials given to them and then will be asked to complete three short
assignments .First the students are going to go to the link attached for them and figure out a word that they
would like to teach to the classroom. The next assignment given to them will be to get a partner and sign
with them until they can successfully sign each other’s names. Once they believe that they can successfully do
this they will sign the names to me and then they may separate from their partner and go on to the next
assignment. The last assignment is a word search given in a pdf file and should be done independently. They
have until the next class session to finish the assignment.

5. Conclusion
Different languages are becoming part of our societies every day life. Language permits us to explore
and communicate with people from all around the world. Language is important for us to teach our
students because it will be a vital tool for them later in life. The United States is not a strictly English
speaking country. It never has been and it never will be. Our society is filled with individuals from all
over the world and if we fail to educate our students on the different languages they may encounter
they will have an extremely difficult time communicating with people from their own United States let
alone foreign countries.
