Re: Joe Davis
To Whom It May Concern,
Firstoff,I wouldlike tostartthiswitha little backgroundof Joe andI. I startedat WellsFargo
Bank as a Personal Bankerabout10 yearsago withnoprior bankingknowledge orexperience. Formy
firstyearor soI had multiple managersinandout, whichcreatedanenvironmentthatmade learning
and growinganimpossibletask.Ourteamhad constantturn overand wasa gloomplace tocome into
everyday.Thenone day,3 managersdown,ournew branch managerwas introducedtoourteam…Joe
Davis.I couldtell fromthe beginningthatthingsseemed(andwere) differentthistime.Joe tookthe
time to talkwithme aboutmy future, myfamily, mygoalsandmost importantly…whatmade me happy.
I was fortunate enoughtohave somebodylike thiscome inandworkwithme whenhe did,and
immediatelyIwaschallengingmyself tohigherlevelsandstandardsandlookingatWellsFargoas an
actual career, nota job.Overthe time thatJoe and I workedtogetherIwasable to accomplishmany
thingsthat I neversawas possible, andneverwouldhave beenable toaccomplish withouthis
leadershipandmotivation.WithinayearI wasable to entera LicensedBankerprogramto obtainmy
Series7,Series66 and CA Life andHealthlicenses, afterwhich Iwaspromotedtoa LicensedPremier
BankerII and mygrowingcontinuedfromthere.Astime passed,Joe noticedmydesiretoalwayshelp
and coach my peersandclientsandofferedme anAssistantManagerpositionunderhim,whichI
acceptedandspentthe nextcouple of yearsdoing.Joe wasalwaysgivenadditional responsibilitiesto
helpwithourdistrict, sohe wouldteachandpushme to runour branch as if it was mine.Ultimately,I
endedupacceptinga Store Manager positioninone of the topbranchesin the regionandwenton to
manage that until the nextopportunitycame up…aRegional PrivateBankingpositionsupporting one of
the most affluentareasinthe country, whichIhave done now for 3+ yearsand have beenatop
producerinmy positionalmostthe entire time, somethingwhichIattribute tomy“upbringing”soto say
underJoe’sleadershipand drive tobe the best.
As I sitback and lookat myaccomplishmentsandcareerIhave builtwithWellsFargo,Iwould
be nowhere close towhere Iam withoutJoe beingthere topushme, teachme, educate me andstrive
to make me the bestI can be. Joe’sleadershipskillsalwayscreatedafunenvironmenttobe around,
while continuouslylookingat the endresult…whetherthatbe our goals, our growthor ourselves. Of all
of the memoriesandknowledgeIreceivedfromJoe,one of hisattributes thatsticksoutto me the most
isthis…workingwithJoe duringgreateconomictimes, aswell asone of the mostdepressedeconomic
timesourcountry haseverseenhe alwaysremindedme we are here dayinandday out forthese clients
walkingthroughthe door.We can onlycontrol what we can control and that’sourselves…duringthe
goodtimesand the bad timeswe create the impactwe have on clientsandthe memoryandexperience
the clientshave whentheywalkoutof our doors. If there isa lotof bad goingon outside,we will
ALWAYSstrive to make sure the clienthasa goodexperience insideof ourdoors. Joe wouldalways
make sure we were thinkingoutsideof the box andgoingabove andbeyondto obtainsuccess, whether
that be to holdclientoremployee appreciationdays,BBQ/cook forthe clientsonthe weekends,
volunteerasoftenaswe couldto offerhelpandguidance inourcommunity, have school -childrencome
intothe branch on fieldtripstoofferfinancial preparationandawareness,constanttrainingandself-
improvementcoursesandsomuch more.
I’ll endthiswitha note aboutan experience Irecentlyhadinthe branchthat Joe and I worked
togetherformanyyearsin. I setup a meetingwithalongtime clientthatIhelpon a regularbasisand
she asked, due to schedule limitations,if Icouldmeetheroutthere at our oldbranch.I arrivedat the
branch a little earlytogetsetup and instantlyhadtwopeople inlinewaive tome, call me byname and
ask whenJoe andI were comingback tothe branch because ithasnot beenthe same since we left.
AfterI finishedmyappointmentandbefore IleftIhad3 more people come uptome asking aboutJoe.
The reasonI share thisandsee importance initis Joe andI have beengone fromthat branch foralmost
5 years! The impactthat Joe has on hisemployees, andmostimportantlyonclientsisinaclass of its
own.
