This lab aims to demonstrate how changing variables in the momentum equation affects the outcome. Volunteers will cross a 10 meter area at different speeds while their mass, time, and velocity are recorded. Each person's momentum will then be calculated using the equation P=MV and compared to show that altering mass or velocity yields different momentum values, even if speeds are similar, due to the equal but opposite effect of changes in the variables.

 My goal in this lab is to show how
momentum changes when variables are
changed in the same equation.

6. Materials Needed
 I need 5 volunteers
 A Stopwatch
 A measured out 15 meter area
 Calculator
 Scale

7. Things to Do
 Weigh the 4 volenteers (one will be timing and doesn’t
need to be weighed)
 Record the weights and convert them to kilograms
 Every person one by one crosses the 10 meters, walking,
running ect.
 Time them from start to finish
 Record the times
 Calculate each persons momentum

8. How to Get Momentum
 Calculating Momentum
 Velocity x mass= momentum
 Velocity= distance/time + direction
 To find each momentum- take 10 meters divided by the
time, then multiply that by their weight
 Record all momentums

9. Ending
 In the end, it is found that all momentums are different,
even if they walked at similar paces, this is because their
masses are different. Even if just one of the variables is
changed in the equation, the outcome is different.
