“See One. Do One. Teach One.” Harnessing the Power of Network-Intelligent Teams
“Visualizing Value Care” Collaborating for Competitive Advantage
In the 21st century, medicine will be a team sport, played by network-intelligent teams with smart-connected devices. We
present several use cases illustrative of clinical collaboration, teamwork and training in dynamic biomedical environments:
1. Personalized Precision Medicine – early detection, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring with integrative visual
bioinformatics [multidisciplinary teams collaborating with anatomical, cellular and molecular imagery data streams]
2. Precision Guided Surgery – intraoperative peer review, surgical telementoring and OR team backup with multi-
channel multiplexed streaming video & virtual interactive presence augmented reality instruction [surgery ‘vipar nets’]
3. Coordinated Connected Team Care – ‘smarter, smoother, safer’ collaborative connected-team care with virtual
medical checklists and multisensory clinical instruction [see Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right]
Participants will be invited to show and share clinical use cases and business models for delivering ‘faster, smarter, better’
network connected-team care with IOM’s ‘triple aim’ of higher quality, lower costs and healthier outcomes. [‘value care’]
Jim Smurro is founder and innovation architect for VisMedX, a provider of clinical collaboration tools and healthcare
information technology for smart-connected teams with image-enabled medical devices. Jim enjoys ‘e pluribus genius’

degrees from Harvard in Engineering, Applied Physics and Technology Management, along with multiple utility patents for
multimodal cognitive communications and collaborative knowledge exchange with visual neural networking and
