  6. 6. How To Make It Work Twitter/social media Internet based communities ◦ vBrownBag ◦ Slack Channels ◦ Spiceworks Find a manager/Org who understands the value of community Have a willingness to travel to nearby events Regularly attend tech conferences 6

How To Afford It Get management buy in ◦ Be able to sell getting something valuable back for the org ◦ It’s cheaper than traditional paid training ◦ Get PTO or work paid travel Get involved in webinars/blogging/podcasts/etc. Become a speaker Get sponsorships/giveaways if possible and allowed 7
