Gender Inequality
 Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or
perception of individuals based on their gender.
The girls are the worst victim of gender
discrimination.
The girls are discriminated right from before their
birth.
In 2011, Bangladesh was ranked 146 out of 187
countries on the Human Development Index and 112
out 146 countries surveyed on the Gender Inequality
Index.

Causes Of Gender inequality in Bangladesh
 Structural and Social Institutions
 Lack of Explicit policy Initiatives
 Preoccupied Mindset
 Early Marriage
 Low parental education
 Political instability.
Gender Inequality In Education
 The percent of the literate children also various according
to the gender.
 The literacy of the male children was 49.5% and for
female it was 40.1% in 2000 which has been increased to
65.77% for male and 60.68% for female in 2014.
The RMG Industry
RMG is one of the largest sector in Bangladesh.
There are more than 5000 factories employs more
than 5 million workers of whom more than 80% are
women.
We earn 21 billion on per year by this sector.

Participation and Representation In Politics
 In Bangladesh context women
occupy only 2% of the
parliamentary seats.
 Less than 1 % of cabinet
members are women .
 Only 7.88% of civil servants
are women, but only 7.88 at
decision making levels.
 Only 20% members of local
government are women.
 There is only one women in
Supreme Court and the
number of judges constitute
only 1% as compare to their
male
Discrimination and Violence Against Women
 When married, girl become property of husbands family. Domestic
violence and discrimination are difficult to measure.
 Violence in Bangladesh ranges from:
 acid throwing,
 physical and psychological torture,
 sexual harassment,
 sexual assault,
 rape,
 dowry related violence,
 trafficking ,
 force prostitution,
 coerced suicide and
 murder.
 Rape: 1069 women and children falling victim last couple of year.
And 72 of them being murdered afterwards.

What We Have Got From 2015
Violence against women and children rose by five
percent in 2015.
Rape rose by 35 present, torture for dowry by 24
percent, 1847 women and children were killed .
