LESSON PLAN IN AUTOMOTIVE
TECHNOLOGY
2. I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion of the
lesson, the students are expected to:
Define car or automobile
Identify the seven systems of automobile.
Illustrate and explain the functions of the
seven systems of automobile.
3. II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic : Seven Systems of Automobile
 Reference: Automotive Technology
book and internet
(https://schoolworkhelper.net/vehicle-
systems-overview/)
Tools and Equipment: Engine parts of
an auto mobile
4. III. PRESENTATION
 What is automobile?
Commonly known as car. It is a
wheeled motor vehicle used for
transportation. Most definitions of
cars, these run primarily on roads,
seat one to eight people, have four
tires, and mainly transport people
rather than goods.
5. Importance of knowing the basic things
and the seven systems of automobile
Buying cars is just so easy nowadays
and it’s quite also easy to learn how to
drive. But the most important part
here is knowing what makes your car
work and knowing the most important
parts or systems in automobiles.
6. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
 Engine Power Plant -
It is a power station in which
power comes from the combination of
a reciprocating engine and an
alternator. This system produces power
to move the vehicle.
7.
8. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
 Powertrain and Drivetrain –
The drivetrain of a motor vehicle is the
group of components that deliver power
to the driving wheels. This excludes the
engine or motor that generates the
power. Powertrain is considered to
include both the engine or motor and the
drivetrain.
9.
10. It is the second stage in the
transmission system, after the clutch. It
is usually bolted to the rear of the
engine, with the clutch between
them. Modern cars with manual
transmissions have four or five forward
speeds and one reverse, as well as a
neutral position.
GEARBOX
11.
12. The main function of propeller shaft
is to connect two mechanical
elements or components i.e. one is
driving element and another is driven
element. We can transmit
torque/turning moment and power
from one component to another.
PROPELLER SHAFT
13.
14. It is a rotating shaft which transmits
torque in an engine.
DRIVE SHAFT
15.
16. It is a device that splits power
between two wheels. As a car drives
straight, its wheels will travel the same
distance and rotate at the same
speed. When a car turns, the outside
wheels will follow a longer path
around the curve.
DIFFERENTIAL
17.
18. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
 Suspension System–
This absorbs shock of the tires and
wheels meeting bumps and holes in the
road. This must support both road
holding/handling and ride quality, which
are at odds with each other.
19.
20. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
 Steering System –
It controls the direction of the
vehicle travel.
21.
22. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
Brake System –
This system slows and stops the
vehicle. A braking system is an arrangement
of various linkages and components (brake
lines or mechanical linkages, brake drum or
brake disc, master cylinder or fulcrums etc.)
that are arranged in such a fashion that it
converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy into the
heat energy which in turn stops or de
accelerate the vehicle.
23.
24. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
Electrical System –
It provides electricity for cranking
the engine, charging the battery and
powering the lights and other electrical
or electronic equipment. This includes
battery, starter, ignition switch, alternator
and generator (for some old cars).
25.
26. SEVEN SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILE
 Body –
This provides enclosures or
compartments for the engine,
passengers and luggage or cargo.
