2. Nutrition and Obesity
The main idea of our project is to bring
awareness to obesity and how to prevent it.
Nutrition is a major aspect when it comes to
obesity.
3. Schedule
Dates: April 8th, 14th, and 22nd
Times: Mr. Barber 8:55 and Mrs. Sweigart 9:20
Agenda:
April 7th - Your team to meet with Mrs. Vasbinder at 9:00 am at Franklin
April 8th - Explain obesity and nutrition (Assign My Plate/Activity Sheet)
April 10th - Pick up My Plate and Activity Log from Teachers in the morning
April 14th - Review My Plate and show them how to make some fun but healthy snacks
April 22nd - Review results from Activity Log and teach students about fun activities to do.
April 23-24 - Students complete My Plate and Activity Log. This can be a post assessment to see if students
improve their habits.
April 25th - Pick up My Plate and Activity Log from teachers

5. What We Did
Taught 2nd grade students about obesity and nutrition
Made them snack books
Showed children fun activities
MyPlate activities
10. Required Daily Portions
Required/Suggested Portions:
Grains- 6 oz.
Vegetables- 2.5 oz.
Meat- 5.5 oz.
Fruit- 2 cups
Milk and Dairy- 3 cups
Avoid consuming too much of these food groups through
juice
Fruit and Veggie juices are actually much less health because they
contain relatively high amounts of sugar
