12. 1. Identify the parts of the eyes.
2. Describe the functions of each
part of the eyes.
3. Cite ways on how to take care
of the eyes.
OBJECTIVES:
13. You use your eyes to appreciate the
beautiful world.
The parts of your eyes help together for
you to see the mountains, the rivers, the
animals and the different places.
14. The eyes are your
sense organs for
seeing.
The eyes are made of
cornea, iris, pupil,
and the retina.
20. They protect the eyes from dust. They also
shade the eyes from the light.
EYELASH
21. Are covering that move up and down to protect
our eyes. Eyelids blink about 15 times every
minute to keep our eyes moist with tears.
EYELIDS
22. Fun fact about our eyes:
Our tears keep our eyes healthy too!
23. The round opening
found in the center of
the eyes, it becomes
larger in dim light,
allowing more lights to
enter, it becomes
smaller when the light is
bright. So that only a
little amount of light can
enter our eyes.
PUPILS
24. The white layer of the eye that covers most
of the outside of the eyeball.
SCELERA
25. It is found at the
back of the eyeball,
it is the lining that
enables us to see
different colors.
RETINA
26. Fun fact about our eyes:
The image or picture of what we see is upside
down in the retina.
27. The iris is the
colorful part of the
eye. When we say
a person has blue
eyes, we really
mean the person
has blue irises!
IRIS:
28. Is found at the
back of the pupil.
It brings the light
to a point in the
retina.
LENS
29. The cornea, a
transparent dome, sits in
front of the colored part
of the eye. The cornea
helps the eye focus as
light makes its way
through.
CORNEA:
30. Is responsible for bringing
the message from the
retina to the brain.
The optic nerve serves as
a high-speed telephone
line connecting the eye to
the brain.
OPTIC NERVE:
38. Never look directly at the
sun, protect your eyes from
glaring sunlight, bright lights
can hurt or injure the nerve
endings in our retina.
Wear caps, hats or dark
glasses.
Let’s take care of our eyes:
39. Avoid reading in dim light.
This can destroy our eyes.
As much as possible DO
NOT READ while lying
down, this can strain the
eyes.
Let’s take care of our eyes:
40. Do not rub your eyes
if dirt or other
material enters them,
the speck of dirt
could scratch
CORNEA.
Let’s take care of our eyes:
42. 1. Use proper eye protection.
Wear your shades. The sun’s
rays can hurt your eyes.
Choose sunglasses that
block radiation from the sun.
and remember that you
should never look directly at
the sun.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
43. 2. Give your eyes a
break.
Do you spend a lot of
time looking at a
computer, phone or T.V.
screen?
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
44. 2. Give your eyes a
break.
Staring at any one thing
for too long will tire your
eye.
Lessen your screen time
because too much
radiation is not good for
the eyes.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
45. 3. Keep the germs away.
Always wash your hands
before putting them close
to your eyes. Use a clean
cloth when wiping your
face.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
46. 4. Keep your surroundings clean.
Exposure to dirt and dust can

frequently stay are well
maintained and clean.

leafy green vegetables, nuts, and
fish like salmon and tuna which
have been shown too help your
eyes, too.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
48. 6. Get moving
Did you know that kids who
exercise often have a healthier
body weight than kids who
don’t?
Being overweight can put you
at higher risk for diabetes and
other conditions that will cause
vision problems.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
49. 7. Speak up if your vision
changes.
Is your vision blurry?
Do you squint a lot?
Do you have ever trouble
seeing things at school?
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:

teacher if your eyes are
bothering you or if you notice
any changes in your vision.
Visit an eye doctor to check
your conditions.
WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR EYES:
Look very closely at the white of the eye, and you'll see lines that look like tiny pink threads. These are blood vessels, the tiny tubes that deliver blood, to the sclera.
Your retina is in the very back of the eye. It holds millions of cells that are sensitive to light. The retina takes the light the eye receives and changes it into nerve signals so the brain can understand what the eye is seeing.
The colored part of your eye is called the iris.
The lens works much like the lens of a movie projector at the movies. Next time you sit in the dark theater, look behind you at the stream of light coming from the projection booth
It is a very important part of the eye, but you can hardly see it because it's made of clear tissue. Like clear glass, the cornea gives your eye a clear window to view the world through.
Think of the optic nerve as the great messenger in the back of your eye.
Furthermore, provide your child with good UV-blocking sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun’s UV radiation. Staring directly at the sun, or the light rays reflecting off water and snow, can potentially cause retinal burns, in addition to long term damage.
