To whom it may concern:
Greetings. I am pleased to speak of Jeremiah Dow's talents and abilities. I had Mr. Dow
first as a student in my Microeconomics Principles class where he distinguished himself as
extremely hard-working and intelligent. Consequently, I asked him to work as my teaching
assistant. He took this position and continued for the following 5 terms until his graduation.
As a teaching assistant he ran weekly lecture-style review sessions, tutored individual
students, and graded quizzes and exams. To maintain this position he juggled these duties
between OUT academic program and the Student Learning Center where he also held a
position as a writing and economics tutor. Throughout these five terms Mr. Dow's work was
excellent. The other students came to rely on Mr. Dow's readiness to help, and ability to
communicate. I regularly asked him to screen quizzes and exams for errors and
inappropriate questions. He developed a reputation among students for being strict. While
this earned him the ire of students from time to time, he received the "Economics Student of
the Year" award at EOU because, through his diligence, he boosted the learning of so many
EOU students.
I also had Mr. Dow as a student in my two upper division classes-environmental
economics, and development economics. In both of these courses he scored a high "A"
where he once again demonstrated his intelligence and focus. This coursework included an
excellent term paper showing that in addition to strong verbal communication skills, he is
also strong in written communication.
Mr. Dow's work distinguished him from his peers, and I suspect they would continue to do
so in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like
