The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is

This year, ACS International Schools will be
partnering IYF in their fourth annual IYF workshop
for the YouthActionNet award winners, which will
take place between October 1st
and October 4th

experience for ACS students and IYF attendees and

3. Objective of the IYF/ACS Workshop
The IYF visiting group will consist of IYF staff members plus 22 YouthActionNet (YAN)
award winners. The planned format of events includes workshops on developing
leadership and communication skills to learn and refine techniques to increase visibility of
youth projects, awareness and fundraising.

Summary of the IYF/ACS Workshop

These workshops will involve students & teachers from ACS Cobham, ACS Egham,
and ACS Hillingdon.
1) Saturday, 1st
October 2005
Time: 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Description: Themed luncheon discussions
Up to 40 students each, plus accompanying teachers from ACS Egham and ACS
Hillingdon are invited to join 65 ACS Cobham students for a sit-down lunch at
ACS Cobham.
Objective: to discuss thematic topics of interest, impacting youth globally with
YAN winners.
Location: Cafetorium
2) Monday, 3rd
October 2005
Time: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Description: “Question Time”
40 students each, plus accompanying teachers from ACS Egham and ACS
Hillingdon are invited to join 65 ACS Cobham students for a youth panel
discussion between YAN Winners and ACS students.
Objective: raise awareness of YAN leader programmes and stimulate discussion
around controversial issues related to youth advocacy. Moderator provided by
IYF.
4. Location: Auditorium
3) Monday, 3rd
October 2005
Description: “Student Interviews and Reports”
Time: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Following on from the Question Time event there will be the opportunity for
student journalists to interview and report back on the YAN Winners from
3:00 pm – 4:30pm.
Objective: To raise awareness of YAN leader programmes and provide fodder for
student newspapers. In the second part of this session, ACS students report back
on what they have learned through interviews.
Location: Sports Centre dance studio (Interviews) and café (Reports)
4) Monday, 3rd
October 2005
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Description: Dinner, Reception, and Awards Ceremony
10 ACS parents each from ACS Egham and ACS Hillingdon are invited to join 10
parents from ACS Cobham along with Heads of School and special IYF guests,
YAN winners for an informal reception, meal, awards ceremony, speeches, and
student performances.
Objective: to celebrate the achievements of the YAN winners and gain further
insight into the ways youth can play a role in addressing urgent social needs in
their communities.
Location: Sports centre
5) Throughout the conference, ACS Cobham High School Computer Media Classes,
led by ACS teacher, Keith Farr, will be working as project teams on a Digital
Storytelling Project and creating a video diary of the event.
Plans for the Future
Our aim now is to continue with a long term relationship with IYF, to build on the
foundations that have now be set, and communicate internally the excellent work
that IYF have done, and continue to do throughout the world.
