7. Regular Inventories : The inventorie s are the mo st important
docu m ent in the moving proc e s s. All other p ap er work ha s to do
with billing. Your prim ar y duty is to m ak e sure that wh en the
driver inventorie s your shipm ent you a gr e e that the e xc e ptions
he take s ar e a c curate. Failure to do so m a y c au s e you to h av e
proble m s later. This is a le g al repre s ent ation of the condition of
your g oods. The driver will inventor y the shipm ent and h av e you
si gn the form. This is your rec eipt for your g oods. He will giv e
you a cop y of this. Do not let the driver take anything out of
your hom e until the inventor y is co mplet ed and you h av e your
copy.
In our p a ck a g e there ar e e x a mple s of blank and filled out
inventorie s and an e xplanation of the s e. You mu st re ad ov er this
e xplan ation. If you h a v e not mo v e d b efore, I will ne ed to do a
s e cond ar y couns eling to a s sure that the proc e s s is co mfortable
for you.
At d e stination it is your re sponsibility to ch e ck off the inventor y
co mplet ely. There ar e no e xc e ptions to this. If nec e s s ar y, I will
couns el your spou s e that he/she ne ed s to b e there for this. You
do not h a v e to take e xc e ption to the condition of your furniture
wh en it arrive s. If you notice that an ite m is da m a g e d, you
should not it on the driver’s cop y of the inventory. Likewis e, if
you notic e that a box is d a m a g e d, you mu st note this also. You
should h av e the driver unp a ck the box at that tim e and you c an
note if there is a ny d a m a g e to the ite m s.
If there is a shorta g e you mu st notify the driver and note this on
his inventory. There is no e xc e ption to this. You should c all m e
a s soon a s pos sible so that I c an st art the tracing proc e s s. Time
is v er y important in this m att er. You h av e only 75 d a y s in which

to file a claim for d a m a g e in order to h a v e the burden of proof b e
on the c arrier. After this tim e the burden shifts to you.

10. S e parate For Tem porary Residen ce: Birth Certificate s,
Docu m ent ation for hom e purch a s e/sale. Immuniz ation and
s chool records. All cloth e s nec e s s ar y for len gth of st a y in
te mporar y re sidenc e. Hav e all ite m s phy sic ally isolated b efore
the p a cker s arrive. Packer s and load er s should not tr y to
s e p ar ate the s e ite m s the d a y of p a ck and load. It is your
re sponsibility to handle this.
11. S e con d S t o p at Tem porary Residen ce: You are entitled to
a drop off at your te mporar y re sidenc e. This mu st b e done in
the s ch edule the driver ha s s et up. The driver c an deliver your
shipm ent within a s m any d ay s a s are divided b y 550 mile s. If
you ne ed this s er vic e I ne ed to know in ad v anc e so I c an arran g e
the s ch edule. If you will not b e there wh en the truck arrive s w e
c an h av e the g oods s et a side so you c an g o b y and pick the m
up. There is not authoriz ation for a sub s e qu ent d eliver y out of
stora g e for les s than the co mplete shipm ent. Should you ne ed
this you c an cont act the d e stination a g ent and m ak e financial
arran g e m ents.
12. Applian ces:. It is your re sponsibility to unhook all of your
a pplianc e s.
Washer, d ryer, ice m ake r - Run ble a ch throu gh the w a sh er and do
two s pin c ycle s after y our la st load. This will help eliminate
a ny fungu s.
Refrigerato r - Take out a n y gl a s s sh elv e s and ha v e the p a cker s
plac e the m in c artons. Clean out the refrig er ator 48 hours
b efore loading. Dr y it out thorou ghly. Le a v e unit op en a t le a st
24 hours b efore loading. Bu y a c an of coffe e, divid e and plac e
in two stocking s or oth er hosier y and put half in the fre e z er
and half in the refrig er ator. This will a b sorb a n y odors that
m a y collect. Making s ure that the refrig er ator is dr y is v er y
important.
