Installation, Configuration, and Setup
DHCP
Configured with a scope using an Address Pool of 10.101.200.31 to 10.101.200.41.
The DHCP server will give the current settings for the clients:
Domain = Oz.loc
DNS = 10.101.200.30
Routing = 10.101.200.30
Our scope allows for 11 devices including local PC (Docked Laptops) and
WIFI operated laptops as well as other wireless devices. (Due to lack of equipment WIFI
could not be tested).

NAT
Demonstrated with a screen shot displaying both private IP Addresses
10.101.200.29 and 10.101.200.30 with incoming and outgoing data transmission
details
A client connects with an IP assigned by the DHCP and can access the internet
through the server Outside NIC using the NAT service
8. OZ MANUFACTURING NEW FIELD OFFICE,

IIS
A default web site enables employees to do their work internally without
interference from external sources (“the outside world”).
The employees can access this web site by entering “Oz.loc” in the web browser
or the IP address 10.101.200.30.
By binding the web site to the inside network the web site is only accessible to the
clients connected to the local network or remote users using VPN.
10. OZ MANUFACTURING NEW FIELD OFFICE,
EMERALD CITY, USA
10
VPN
The setup enables a selected number of users to work from outside the network and
access the company’s web site.

intention of this is to allow administrators the necessary access to files for auditing
purposes, as needed.

Personal Reflection
Jeff
“This project represents a reinforcement of many of the technologies we have studied in
class thus far. Placing it in a real world environment, with a project plan, schedule and
associated documentation is a fantastic way to simulate a real world business
deployment. Along with a needs assessment, this project proves…”There’s no place like
home / (office).”
Ivan
“This project and class has help me by refreshing and making many concepts clear that
where confusing before like NAT. I liked that the class was hands-on class instead of a
theory class this made a world of difference for me. (By the way is the ethical hacker
class be a real class by Jan 2016?)”.

I have grown in my knowledge and understanding of IT processes in a few ways. The
range of content seems to grow boundlessly, and the grasp of these topics required by IT
professionals expands in the same manner. It seems that nothing happens independently;
a change in one area is likely to affect other areas in ways unseen. It is imperative to
engage the body of users, groups, and stakeholders in an IT Governance relationship.
The “IT Users” or IT Governance” group must assist IT professionals in their pursuit of
providing outstanding IT services by explaining what their jobs are, and what IT
products, applications, and services they are using to do those jobs. The level of support
expected, of course, is again, outstanding. IT professionals can also use the IT
Governance group to broadcast their intentions as far as changes, upgrades, additions,
moves, etc., coming down the pike, and how to prepare for them.
The challenges experienced with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2012 in a
virtualized environment were many and varied. RARELY did anything work as advertised
in Richard’s class assignment outlines. I learned that Google and The University of the
Internet are my friends. Many research projects were launched on Google in order to
complete the class assignments. In many instances, since it is relatively easy to do in a
virtualized environment, I found that it is a very good idea to stand up a fresh VM of
Microsoft Server 2012 in order to complete the class assignment objectives!
My goals for future studies include learning more about storage: SAN and NAS, and
related storage infrastructure topics. Also, I am reviewing to take my 3 CCNP exams. I
also plan to take the LPI Linux exams, and the Microsoft MCSE exams.

“This project has exposed me to understanding some critical components of what it takes
to set up an office network. Coming from HR, we can take for granted the amount of
troubleshooting that can consume the world of IT professionals. It has taught me to be
more sensitive to timelines and specificity in my requests. I can honestly say my
interfacing with IT as an HR professional is a bit more polished in terms of giving them
the information they need when it comes to problem solving. I'm far from a guru but this
has taken me a step in the right direction to understanding networks a lot more. I find this
extremely helpful when it comes to system integrations and failures from the HR Info
Systems backend”.
