improvements, furniture, potential rising
construction costs, etc.
• Bond total represented a savings of
approximately $3 million due to internal project

• Nov. 18, 2014 – Advertised official RFQ for architect
design
• Dec. 1, 2014 – Received RFQ design packets
• Dec. 16, 2014 – BoE held Open Meeting to interview
and select prospective designers (Mr. Murphy in
attendance)
• Jan. 12, 2015 – BoE reviewed proposed design fees
and proposed land purchase; directed staff to
continue land search

Where We Are
• BoE received RFQ; selected six top firms
from 18 completed submissions
• These six top firms presented proposals to
the BoE
• Three of the six were selected based on
their presentations and/or qualifications
for the pending projects

Moving Forward
• Hire consultants for Surf City site evaluations
once funds are released
• Following evaluation of Surf City Site, BoE will
need to complete an offer to purchase land,
which will be then be taken back to the BoCC
for release of funds
• Hold site visits for all projects with selected
design teams
