Story of Jim Locke
Jim Locke coached the Greensboro College men’s golf team from 1975 to 1989.
Prior to that, he was the Dean of Students at GC.
Locke laid the foundation for an amazing golf program that has won two national
titles in the past 11 years.
He was the first GC coach to be inducted into the Greensboro College Athletics
Hall of Fame, on April 25, 1993. Jim was also inducted into the USA South
Athletic Conference Hall of Fame on May 8, 1993.
Coach Locke’s legacy continues in the hearts and minds of everyone here at
Greensboro College. This tournament honors him for all of his great
accomplishments here.
On behalf of everyone at Greensboro College, thank you so much for
playing in this year’s Jim Locke Memorial Golf Tournament. As the
Athletics Director here at GC, I cannot tell you how much it means to
our players, coaches and staff to have your participation and support.
Greensboro College athletics has had and will continue to have the
distinct pleasure of developing polished young women and men whom
are ready lead their communities and be a positive addition to our
world.
By playing in our golf tournament today, you are taking an active role
in securing the future our athletics department and ensuring that the
great experiences had by our student-athletes will
continue.
