3. BENGAL’S PARTITION 1905
• Bengal was a fertile and rich province in the subcontinent.
• Bengal was partitioned in 1905 by Lord Curzon for better administration.
• East Bengal and West Bengal were the two new provinces.
• The Muslims benefited because now they were in majority and could
progress without competition from the Hindus.
• The Hindu business’ interests suffered.

5. BENGAL’S PARTITION REVERSED 1911
• The Congress started a violent protest against the partition started.
• An attempt was made on the life of Lord Minto.
• It meant the boycott of British goods and system, this resulted in the
Swadeshi Movement.
• Under pressure of the Hindu community the decision of the partition of
Bengal was reversed in 1911.
• This resulted in the break of cooperation between British and Muslims.
