SOLID WASTE

2. Need for the Project
In our home, we always have numerous used
plastic bottles coming from various sources such
as drinking water, cooking oil, vinegar, etc. These
items normally end up in our garbage drums. I
am thinking that if these bottles end up in the
canal or drainage, they will cause clogging and
flooding instead of being reused or recycled.
3. Goal
My goal is to make my humble contribution
in the reduction of solid waste to help my
community avoid clogging of drainage and
flooding during heavy rains. Hopefully, this
action will also inspire our home and
community to think of more ways to reduce
plastic bottles and other waste materials.
4. Project Activity
I asked my sister and househelps not to throw
away used plastic bottles but to collect them. I
explained to them the possible consequences of
throwing these bottles away which may cause
clogging of drainage and flooding during heavy rains.
I also thought of alternative use of these items and
showed them to my housemates. In so doing, they
will be encouraged to do the same.
5. Step by Step Planning
1. Collect empty used plastic 3. Show output to other household members
bottles and encourage them to do the same

6. Results
As a result of my project, my parents, sister and househelps have started putting aside our plastic
bottles and other recyclable solid waste such as papers, cartons, bottles, etc.
We have also searched the internet to get ideas on alternative use of these materials. We are excited to
start the following recycling projects:
We are planning to share these ideas to our neighbors and friends
