Whilst studying for his BSc Mathematics at King’s College London, Ife took several computer science
related modules. This sparked an interest as he saw the growth opportunities within such a
dynamic industry.
After graduating with a first class honours degree, Ife realised the extent to which software was at
the forefront of the changing world around him. This led to him self-studying Java programming,
using online resources to hone his skills. Joining Park Avenue Graduate Academy in summer 2015
was the latest step on his journey to turning his passion for software design into a career.
Ife’s goal is to become a software development specialist, sharpening his skills with both Java and
other related technologies, building expert level technical skills.
Choice Tutors: Maths tutor
Tutoring groups of students in Mathematics, from primary up to GCSE level, a wide range of skill
level, taking the initiative to collaborate with other tutors in order to make teaching more efficient.

With a keen interest in computing from an early age - both building his own computers and utilising
them for gaming, Chris took a practical route into Software Development.
Having completed both a BTEC First Diploma and a National Diploma for IT Practitioners at college,
Chris continued his passion for coding at university. He elected to specialise in BSc Computer Games
Design at the University of Westminster as this was a particular interest of his at the time.
After developing his C++ and C# skills at university Chris taught himself to code in Java as he was
very interested in the additional usability it offers developers.
During his studies and since his graduation, Chris has worked on a voluntary basis with both a
charity and his local Citizens Advice Bureau. He provided technical support for numerous software,
hardware and installation issues - even assisting in a major office relocation.
Chris has developed a number of games in his own time.
His professional experience has intensified his career aspirations in Software Development, leading
to him joining the Park Avenue People Graduate Academy in summer 2015.
Chris’s long-term goal is to learn all that he can about Java and software development with the
ambition of becoming an SME at a respected company.

Ad hoc IT support on a volunteer basis. Installed PCs and set up users, member of IT Team on major
office relocation project. Website development, development of Client Database functionality, various
administrative tasks, taught IT skills, facilitated productivity for end users at this charitable
organization.

I conducted volunteer technical support for a number of years at this charitable organization with 30
employees. My role was that of onsite IT support once or twice a week. In this role we solved a wide
range of software, hardware and installation issues.

Whilst studying for her degree in Microbiology, Rosina was introduced to coding by a friend studying
Computer Science, reigniting her interest in IT from high school.
After attending a graduate fair and realising for the first time that software development was an
achievable career option for her, Rosina enrolled on an MSc ICT conversion course. Throughout her
MSc, she developed her understanding of Java programming as well MySQL, HTML, and CSS.

Michael has always had a keen interest in computing, however, decided to follow his passion for
numbers, logic and algorithms by studying for a Masters of Mathematics. It was during his studies,
whilst working with MATLAB and Turing-based machines, his interest in programming was
rekindled.
After graduating with a 2:1, Michael had the time to immerse himself in the world of coding –
combining his passions for algorithm creation and programming to write his own algorithms in
Python. This was both self-taught via online resources and with the help of friends who were
developers.
From Python, Michael progressed to Java and joined the Park Avenue People Graduate Academy in
2015 to further his ambition of becoming a software developer.

Amandeep studied a Bachelors of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering to continue her
keen interest in computing and aerospace engineering stemming from her Uncle’s work with NASA.
Upon graduation Amandeep’s passion for computing led her to join a technical support company,
gaining 2 years experience in a technical environment before moving on to Dell. After another year
honing her skills, she moved into Java development, working for two and a half years with a
software consultancy, both developing in Java and training members of staff on the programming
language.
Now living permanently in the UK, Amandeep joined the Park Avenue People Graduate Training
