4. Using right font
• Using effective font size reduces space
occupancy
– Good fonts
• Times New Roman
• Arial Narrow
• Garamond
– Arial wastes as much space as possible
5. Using right font size
• Smaller the font lesser the space
– Times Roman and Calibri are effective in 10
– Verdana is very effective at 8.5
– Garamond is very effective at 12
– Arial Narrow is effective in all sizes
6. Using right formatting
• Office 2007 and 2010 by default uses multiple
line spaces
– This can be controlled effectively to reduce space
• Using low font size for additional line spaces
will make the document look neat.
7. End to end Printing
• All Margins set at 0.5 Inches
– By default right and left margins are more than an
Inch
• If the papers are to be filed, fixing left margin at 1
inch will be helpful
• Business people who use resources to the full
extent have habit of using papers in full without
leaving margins

8. Using two column
• Word supports multiple column printing
– For easy view, dual column printing with a line
separator will reduce space used by paper by
1/4th
– 3 column is suggested for bullet points presented
in MS Word
– Extra columns will look clumsy
9. Wrapping words around pictures
• If you are using pictures in word documents,
wrap words around the picture.
• Reducing size of picture and wrapping words
around it, will give a clean text book look
