1. It’s Just Another Demon
That I Met Along the Way

As we start our Christian journey
Up the road to eternal life—
As we’re filled with joy and gladness
Mixed with trouble, pain, and strife—
We may wonder why there’s dark times;
We may wonder why it’s gray;
I’ve found it’s because of the demons
That we will meet along the way.
On this road we’ll meet with blessings
From the folks guided from above;
On this road we’ll meet with angels
Sent by our Father out of love.
But, ‘tis true we’ll meet with hardness
From the folks wanting us to stray.
It’s because of those dark demons
That we will meet along the way.
I met a friendly sort of creature;
I found that Judas was his name.
He smiled and laughed and made my acquaintance;
But, it was an awfully sad game.
The betrayer finally showed his dark side;
And, to my terrible dismay—
I found him one of those dark demons
That I would meet along the way.
And then a cunning sort of creature;
But, ‘twas an “angel of light.”
I found her name was Jezebel—
Who wrought destruction with all her might.
‘I’ll control your very existence;’
‘I’ll be the source you must obey.’
But, she was just another demon
That I met along the way.
Oh look—Delilah walks beside me.
Is this a friend or ‘tis a foe?
A “frien-emy” I soon discovered
Was a term I’d come to know.
Yes—she cut my prized possession;
Took years to re-grow from dismay.
I found her just another demon
That I met along the way.

2. Then King Saul, he rose up above me
To defeat my every, single step.
“God—strengthen me as I must suffer!”
The river of tears that I have wept.
But, with my tears placed in a bottle;
Thy Book—my prayers—still there today;
I encountered just another demon
That I met along the way.
At last I’ve reached my destination;
Satan threw everything at me he could.
He thought his creatures would destroy me;
But they were working for my good.
The devil really couldn’t comprehend it; but
God overrode all he sent my way.
Yes—even those formidable, bad demons
That I met along the way.
