Hello everyone, my name is Debs, I work in the library at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College. I’m here today to talk about ClickView, which is the digital video recording and streaming system we use at NWHC. I’ll besharing with you some of the ways in which ClickView is being used for teaching and learning. Now, there are other streaming systems on the market, even some that allow teachers to control content, but ClickView was chosen because of its clear user interface and because the library already did off-air recordings so teaching staff were used to requesting recordings and the library is used to cataloguing and organising resources so we can keep it all neat and tidy
Of course, ClickView videos can be viewed all around college, and clips can be inserted into PowerPoint presentations
Videos can be embedded in Moodle
Now we have ClickView Online so that, with a username and password, staff and learners can view our video content anywhere, anytime, there’s even aniPad app
ClickView can integrate with Heritage, so that ClickView content is searchable.
Some tutors, who record their learners’ presentations, have started to have these videos stored on ClickView. They find it is more convenient to have them stored digitally on the college system than to keep a disc safe. They know it will be there at their fingertips should they need to watch it again, show it to the group or to a visiting assessor. The videos can be password protected so they’re not available for general consumption
Tutors can create their own content for ClickView – one of our team leaders has recorded his own videos giving advice on tutorials; how they should be conducted and important issues that need to be included. He recorded role plays to illustrate his points.
It is also possible to store forms and helpsheets with the videos
One of our tutors is trying to engage her Foundation Literacy learners by integrating ClickView videos into her lesson planning; learners chose an advert they liked; Suzanne, the tutor, gave a list of their chosen adverts to me to upload to ClickView; then in the lesson they viewed the adverts and each gave their reasons for choosing their adverts and the class participated in a discussion about how the adverts worked.
They were then asked to compare this lesson’s format to a previous lesson which was in the form of a ‘round table’ discussion with no ILT involved.
