Sales Charter ā
our promise to you
Buying a first home is the realisation of a lifelong
aspiration for most people. So itās important to make
sure you are buying into a shared ownership home
that is sold fairly, professionally and to a high standard,
with your interests at heart. At Metropolitanās home
ownership service, we put customers first.
Metropolitan has been developing and managing government-
backed shared ownership homes for more than 30 years. We have
helped thousands of people into homes of their own including
5,000 key workers. Buying from an established, experienced shared
ownership provider may prove important as an assurance of quality
when it comes to selling your home.
For more information on our promise to you, read our full sales
charter, which you can download from www.mho.co.uk

17. Home Ownership
in Affordable Stages
Shared Ownership is a flexible part buy, part rent
option that enables you to buy a new or resale
home. You buy what you can afford now without
over-stretching yourself financially.
Shared Ownership is for anyone who cannot afford to buy a
suitable home on the open market, but you will usually need
to meet a guideline household income requirement (this is
calculated on an individual basis), and must be able to pay for
the mortgage valuation or survey, legal fees and stamp duty.
A deposit is normally required. We can help you to find a lender
and solicitor with low cost home ownership experience.
Each month, you will pay off some of the mortgage on the
proportion of the home you are buying, and pay us a subsidised
rent on the remainder. A management fee, building insurance
and for your apartment, a service charge, will also be payable.
When you can afford to, you can buy more of your
home or even own it outright, at the price it is worth
at the time that you buy an additional share.
