 Location: Center Land Entrance
 Outline:
o Introduction to camp
 Welcome to The Hunger Games Camp
 We meet at the center land entrance
 Monday through Thursday will be our training
days. On these days you will partake in a verity
actives that will give you skills and knowledge
that will be vital to your survivor here in the
hunger games and maybe in real life as well.
Your wits and strength will be tested! Friday
you will take your skills to the arena
 Since there will be no killing, the winners will be
the tribute that can last the lonest in the arena
on Friday. Also, as each tribute will scored on
how well they did on all of the training activities
prizes will be awarded to the highest rank in
each skill set and the tribute that did the best
over all.
 Although this is a completion we will be kind,
courteous, and respectful to every one. No
negativity and no bullying.
 As the counselor are only to help you be as
prepared as possible, we need to follow their
directions at all time. Points will be deducted for
not listening to instructors or being mean to
your opponents
o Create Hunger Game Autobiography and share
 Explain to the students how to create the
names
 1. Write down the second syllable of your middle
name (sha)
 2. write down the name of a plant (night shade)
 3. female write down the word met and if you are
male write down petra (met)
 4. write down the first indital of the last name of
your favorite English teacher (s)
 5. write down action verb (soar)
 combined 1 and 3 for your first name (shamet)
 4 is middle initial (s)
 5 and 2 are your last names SoarNightshade
 Allow them create a mini autobiography, which
includes: 1. Real name/ Hunger Games name 2.
Their district 3. What they did in that district 4.

11:30- 11:45: Safe Plants Lesson plan
 Location: Center Land Lunch area
 Objective:
o Learn how to recognize plants are safe to eat and
which are dangerous in NYS
 Materials
o Never eat without an adult
 Split the kids into two teams
 Give them 3 mins to sort the plants into safe
and no safe
 Go over the answer and explain each plant (see
plant sheet)

11:50-12:20: To Eat or Not to Eat, that is the question
 Location: Field
 Objective
o See if they can use the previous lesson to recognize
which plants are safe to eat and touch and which are
not
 Story:
o In the Center of the arena is a cornucopia (the
center hula hoop) is full of food! But be warned!
There are poisonous plants mixed in! You have one
minute to run into the cornucopia and pick out one
safe plant to eat and make it back to your home! If
you don’t make it in time or take a poisonous one,
you are out!
 Outline
o 14 Hula hoops make a gain circle, one hoop (home
base) per student
o When the instructor says go the students will have
one minute to get a plant card from the center of the
hoop and return to the hoop
o If they do not make or have a poisonous plant they
are out
o In the circle always one poisonous plant and one less
the number people playing
 Materials
o 15 hula hoops
o Pictures of safe plants and unsafe plant (always one
less safe plant than number of kids)
 Scoring
o Points per round
Tuesday, 23th
9:30-10:00~ Drop off
 Location: Center Land Entrance
10:00-10:20~ Blind Hunt
 Location: Field
 Story
o A great beast has stolen valuable resources. Although it is
blind, it has poisons spray. Your mission is to sneak up as
quietly as you can to take back the resources without being
heard, for if the beast hears you and sprays you, you are out.
 Set up/rules
o One camper is sitting in his/her “Den” (blanket) is blind folded
armed with a spray bottled, trying to protect the resources
(balls)
o Camper try to sneak up and steal the balls with out getting
sprayed by the blind folded camper
o If sprayed, they are out
o Can only grab one resource at a time
 Materials
o A towel/ or blanket as a base
o Blind fold
o Spray bottle
o Balls
 Scoring
o The number of resources you grab each round
o How long the monster can protect its goods
 0-30 seconds
10:30- 11:20~ Archery
 Location: Archery Field (Far right Field, near the equipment shed)

11:30-11:50~ How to use a compass with a map
 Location: Center Land Entrance
 Outline:
o How to use a compass
 Show what illustrates N, S, E, W, north is 0 degrees,
east is 90 degrees, south 180 degrees, and west 270
degrees

o Tell the campers the different components of the compass
o THE RED ALWAYS POINT NORTH, so follow it if you want to
go north
o To use a compass
 The compass house can rotate 360 degrees and has the
cardinal directions on it
 Turn the compass house so the direction or degree you
want to go aligns with the “direction of travel arrow”
 Move your body until “red is in the shed”
 So when you walk make sure the orienting arrows
always house the compass needle
o Allow the kids to practice going north, north west, 23 degrees
and 200 degrees and see if they all point the right way
o Have them measure how many of their paces= 1 meter
 Materials:
o Compasses
o A meter stick
11:50-12:20: Search and Salvage
 Location: Center land camp
 Story
o Through out the area there will be various stashes of the
materials that you will need to survive during the hunger
games. Using nothing but a compass and degrees, try to find
all these locations before the “sun sets” (time runs out)
 Outline
o Though out the centerland camp there will be ten numbered
cones marking where the “stashes of materials” are located,
o Each camper is stationed at one of the locations and get a
“freebee”
o Each camper is given an instruction sheet
o The sheet gives the number of meters and the degrees on
how to get from one “stash” to the other (ex turn your
compass to 23 degrees and walk 6 meters from station 3)
o There will be instructions on how to get from station 10 to
station 1

o Containers for stickers
o Must be set up before camp arrives, but planned and mapped
out much earlier

o One point per sticker they come back with

 Location: Field/ Nature walk
 Outline:
o Talk about how to make a shelter
o Students will then have ten minuets to build a shelter
 Materials:
o Sticks
o Branches
o Tarp
o Duct tape
o Rope
 If can completed within ten minuets will receive 5 points
10:30-11:20: Swim Relay
 Location: Indoor Pool
 Story:
o The activities are all skills one needs to know if they want to
survive an arena with water. We will practice treading in case
you are abandoned in deep sea, retrieving items from the
bottom of the pool so you will be able to collect food or other
hidden treasures, speed when you are trying to fight or try to
out race another tribute
o Outline
 Treading
 Have the students tread for 5 minuets while
passing the ball to each other
 Scoring:
 Who last the longest gets 5 points
o Survival of the fittest
 Grab an odd number of diving sticks (7, 5, 9) and place
your players on opposite ends of the pool. Toss the
sticks in the middle, and the first pirate to come back
with the majority of the sticks (treasure) wins.
 Scoring:
 Each member on the winning team gets 5 points
o Camouflage bottle
 Take an empty clear 2 liter plastic bottle. One with a
white cap, or the same color as your pool tiles is also a
good idea. Fill the bottle with pool water and line the
players up on the pool deck, backs to the water. When
they hear the splash they can turn around and try to
find it. It’s harder than it seems as the bottle
camouflages to the bottom. The team that gets the
most bottles win

 Each member on the winning team gets 5 points

11:30- 12:00 Basic Wilderness Safety
 Extra help: LGI/ maybe extra people to be victims
 Location: in the conference room
o Importance of Safety
 Outline:
1.What to do if you notice some one is hurt
 Check the scene
 Try to get the person attention if unconscious call 911,
check for pulse and breathing and put in the Haines
recovery position
 If person is conscious

 How to create a splint for a leg
 Check for blood flows
 Use triangle band aids and place above and
below the injured area
 And tie the two legs together
 Or create a splint with a towel and triangle
bandages
 How to create a sling
 Thread triangle bandage under the injured
arm and over shoulder
 Take other part of the triangle bandage over
the other shoulder and tie behind the head
o Heat Stroke
 HEAT EXHAUSTION SIGNS
 Cool, moist, pale or flushed skin
 Heavy sweating
 Headache
 Nausea
 Dizziness
 Weakness
o Cool the patient by placing them in shade, give them cool water (not
cold)
 HEAT STROKE SIGNS (LIFE-THREATENING)
o Hot, red skin which may be dry or moist.
o Changes in consciousness.
o Vomiting and high body temperature
o Call 911 and emersion victim in water (Cool)

 12:00-12:20 Test
o Each group has ten minuets to figure out the different
scenario laid out
o Scene 1
 Victim: drenched in water, said they feel nausea and
dizzy when they were playing basket ball
 Correction action do primary and secondary assessment
 With sample they should realize that the person hasn’t
drank water and been outside all day
 Correct response, give them cool water, a damp cloth
and put them in shade
o Scene 2
 Victim is bleeding a lot
 After checking the scene and doing primary and
secondary assessment find out that the person cut their
hand on a whittling knife
 Use the gauze to make a bandage
o Scene 3
 Victim is cradling knee next to a skate board
 Students find that the leg is soar
 Create a soft cast
o Scene 4
 Victim is cradling arm next to a tree
 Students find that the arm is soar
 Create a sling
 Scoring
 Did they check the scene
 Did they do a good assessment
 Did they ask the sample questions

 When the whistle blows students will have to go to the
cornucopia and try to get one thing of food or medicine
at a time and bring it back to their home base (or steal
it from other students

 Try to get both flags off the other campers
without getting theirs taken
 To not get tagged by a disability (councilor)
 Make sure they have enough food in their home
base so they don’t starve
 Home base does not mean safe base
 Can over come sickness by using a medicine bottle

We will practice treading in case you are abandoned in deep sea, retrieving items from the bottom of the pool so you will be able to collect food or other hidden treasures, speed when you are trying to fight or try to out race another tribute o Outline  Treading  Have the students tread for 5 minuets while passing the ball to each other  Scoring:  Who last the longest gets 5 points o Survival of the fittest  Grab an odd number of diving sticks (7, 5, 9) and place your players on opposite ends of the pool. Toss the sticks in the middle, and the first pirate to come back with the majority of the sticks (treasure) wins.
