CEO Riccardo Turri describes his
company: “Starpool represents a
balance between opposites: hot
and cold, tradition and innovation,
imagination and rationality”. The
company has been active for 39
years now at both national and
international level in the design and
creation of wellness centres and
Spas. Starpool, now credited among
the manufacturers of outstanding
products made in Italy, began life
in the green heart of the Trentino
Dolomites at Ziano di Fiemme in the
Val di Fiemme. Its one aim was to
give life and form not just to wellness
products but also to a genuine all-
round culture of wellness, consisting
of technology, innovation and
design both in the professional and
the private spheres.
With more than 1,400 Spas realised
all over the world and 200 dwellings
equipped with the home lines,
Starpool offers a full range of products
with solutions for every wellness
concept: hotels, sports halls, day Spas,
private Spas, yachts, beauty parlours
and homes. There are two collections,
Classic and Sweet, that contain the
basic elements of every Spa such as
saunas, steam baths, showers and
Starpool’s core business is the professional wellness sector
in the areas of hospitality, contract and marine, to which
can be added the residential/home sector (20%).
The company has an average turnover of 11 million euros
(50% from the domestic market and 50% from other
countries). The main markets of reference are Europe, the
Middle East and the Far East.
Since 2006 Starpool has maintained an important
partnership with Technogym (a world leader in the fitness
sector) and OneonOne (a leader in the management of
Wellness Areas), thus creating the leading network of
operators in the wellness sector: a genuine One Wellness
Provider.

1.2 History and growth
The Starpool group was founded
in 1975 thanks to the talent and
resourcefulness of Ardelio Turri,
father of current CEO Riccardo Turri,
and the company initially specialised
in the import of swimming pools
from abroad. Over the years and in
view of the evolution of the market,
in 1985 the company widened its
offer to include a “beauty division”
with the prime objective of supplying
products, equipment and assistance
to the beauty sector, another market
with major growth potential. In 1989
Starpool opened its in-house planning
department and subsequently
initiated the production of saunas
and steam baths. It was from this
time on that, drawing on the wellness
tradition and culture of ancient Rome,
Starpool rewrote and modernised the
concept and practice of the “thermae”.
Gradually the structures, components
and aesthetic aspects of the various
cabins were devised. The appropriate
materials were selected, the first
employees were appointed to the
new division of the company and
production and installation of products
in local hotels began. In keeping with
the aim of managing every activity
directly or indirectly related to the
care and harmonious development
of the body, 2006 saw the signing of
the prestigious partnership with the
Technogym group, a world leader in
the fitness & wellness sector.
1.3 Starpool today: a youthful team
In the words of CEO Riccardo Turri,
“The company reflects the people
who work here”. Starpool has some
90 staff (planners, designers,
consultants, technicians and
craftspeople) whose average age
is 34. Starpool is a truly young and
dynamic company that pays careful
attention to the traditions of “Made
in Italy” without forgetting the
international interests and aspects.
This constant attention to innovation
in terms of products, projects
and materials is centred on the
company’s Research & Development
department where a team of highly-
qualified engineers and technicians
each day studies new materials
and components in order to create
leading-edge products, researching
into the most reliable technologies
and developing the best solutions
to ensure maximum functionality.
The in-house laboratory also tests all
products by recreating conditions of
extreme usage in order to guarantee
the highest quality standards. Among
the fundamental requirements
guiding the design of Spas in every
context are highly functional and
contemporary design, the rigorous
use of materials “Made in Italy”, a
simple and intuitive approach to
the installation and management of
machinery and careful attention to
user comfort.

1.4 Corporate wellness
The company’s head office at Ziano
di Fiemme fully reflects its business
philosophy: space on a human scale,
functionality indissolubly linked to
harmony of forms, open ambiences
to share ideas and experiences of
well-being. As well as the offices and
production areas, the head office is
home to the showroom, a display
case covering 100 square metres
dedicated to the full range of product
innovations, the training room,
dedicated to specialists in the field
who wish to improve their skills and
the Corporate Spa, a space to meet
and relax where it is possible to get to
know Starpool’s products and projects
first-hand.
Covering some 65 square metres,
the Corporate Spa includes the hot
rooms, with Finnish sauna, steam
bath and Mediterranean bath, the
areas dedicated to cold reaction with
water, featuring flood showers and an
ice cascade, and a space reserved for
resting. Following its installation in
2007, the positive effects of physical,
emotional and professional wellness
have not been slow to manifest
themselves.
When the core business of a company is also effective practice:
working at Starpool is a byword for well-being.
1.5 Val di Fiemme: the heart of well-being
There is a “natural” link between Starpool
and the Val di Fiemme, an obvious cradle for
a company dedicated to the spreading of
the culture of well-being. It Is from this wide
valley in Trentino Alto-Adige, at the foot of
the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage
site, that Starpool draws daily inspiration
for its own work. Surrounded by the natural
parks of Paneveggio and Monte Corno,
over half of the Val di Fiemme is covered
in forests of red fir, a vital resource for the
economy and work of local craftspeople.
This area produces the timber for the
manufacture of the “perfect” violin and it
is from here that the masters of Cremona
came for wood to produce the world-famous
Stradivarius violins. Passion, innovation,
affinity, competence and eco-sustainability
are the notions that guide the production of
the companies that, like Starpool, have their
roots in this area.

Starpools’s DNA is based on paths and treatments that make use of three main
elements: heat, water and relaxation. “This formula, with its ancient origins,
is the true essence of every Starpool spa. We express our passion for the
culture of well-being through the design and constant search for quality of our
products and services”, says Riccardo Turri, CEO Starpool.
Achieving well-being means re-appropriating the capability of “being well”:
knowledge that touches multiple aspects of life, from nutrition to physical
activity, from the ambience in which we live to the way in which the mind copes
with the tensions affecting it. In designing a product or planning a spa, Starpool
starts from the assumption that the well-being experience revolves around
the person, their expectations and the requirements of their physique through
three fundamental elements: heat, water and relaxation.
Heat in ambiences such as the sauna or steam bath, where the body is
exposed to particular temperatures and humidity that cause specific physical
reactions.
Water as a fundamental element of reaction in bathrooms that restores the
normal values of the body previously changed by exposure to heat.
Relaxation as a phase that permits the body to recover its energies and
prepare itself for subsequent entry to warm ambiences.

Throughout the history of humanity
the culture of well-being has
developed in different ways, times
and places. The teachings of ancient
civilisations required that the Spa
respect the requirements of the
person and their physique. Starpool
has gathered the cultural heritage
of tradition and has innovatively
reinterpreted it anew to create places
of undoubted functional and aesthetic
qualities. Four great traditions have
influenced the contemporary spa
ambience: the Finnish, Russian, Arab
and Roman. Each of these cultures
has inspired Starpool to create Spa

4.1 Planning
THE STARPOOL CHAIN:
FROM PLANNING TO PRODUCT TO SERVICE4
Every Spa needs a plan personalised to the context where it will be located,
to the type of user and to the staff that will operate it. Starpool therefore
develops unique, made-to-measure projects that encapsulate the
true spirit of the Spa. Distribution of areas; appraisal and optimisation of
flows; architectural, landscape, historical and geographical characteristics;
commercial purpose; consistency with the chosen paths and treatments: all
of these elements are collected, analysed and utilised with the maximum
care and professionalism. This is the start of a journey that sees Starpool in
constant contact with the customer in order to establish a working plan that
fully reflects and builds upon the predetermined strengths.
4.2 Product
In a chain like Starpool’s which is organised as an industrial model, the human
element and bespoke spirit are still preeminent both in the production
processes and the preceding planning phase. All products signed by Starpool
are designed, planned and constructed in the plant at Ziano di Fiemme by the
technical and structural production units in accordance with the instructions
of planners and the Research & Development department. A team of qualified
technicians is daily engaged in the planning and development of better
solutions to guarantee high quality standards, studying the most reliable
technologies and researching components and new materials among the
best offered on the world market. Every product is subjected to testing before
installation in order to facilitate on-site assembly.
4.3 Service
Starpool maintains a constant dialogue with its customers, putting all-round services at the centre of its offering in
support of every business phase. Services include interior design consultancy from professionals in the sector, advice and
training for the wellness and beauty area, training in support of operational optimisation and after-sales assistance with the
technical maintenance of the products installed.

5.3 Eco Spa Technology
Eco Spa Technology from Starpool is
software developed for managing
and optimising energy distribution
in the Spa. It helps control energy
distribution, avoiding any overrun
of the maximum kW rating in use
and resulting in long-term financial
savings. The reduction of energy
consumption by up to 15% for
a normal daily Spa cycle helps
reduce carbon dioxide emissions
with consequent benefits for the
atmosphere.
Savings combined with efficiency and all-round safety. Eco Spa Technology also permits improved management
performances via:
-	 control of all equipment and configuration for switching every device on and off;
-	 display of all values of installed equipment possible at any time;
-	 notification of check-ups for programmed maintenance;
-	 storage in log files (on-board computer) of the technical life of every device;
-	 warning of anomalies on touch screen or PC (depending where management software is installed) and prompt 		
	 signalling to Starpool help service;
-	 fast remote intervention in order to resolve any malfunctions or to optimise assistance provided by Starpool 		
	 technical staff.
5.2 Green Pack and Energy Efficient systems
All products in the SweetCollection
from Starpool have a high
technological value in terms of their
internal operating systems to help
reduce energy consumption. Green
Pack is a monitoring system that
automatically closes open doors and
can also switch off the heat supply.
Energy Efficient, on the other hand, is
software designed to optimise energy
distribution in the Spa to control

Italy a model for the world, Starpool’s planners and
designers reinterpret the concept of beauty, giving their
models and products a form that is not only attractive but
also and above all functional. The beauty and design of
Starpool products are the result of careful and thorough
research that never loses sight of the function required of
a particular object.
This perfect mix of aesthetic quality and functionality
saw Starpool awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design
Award for SweetSpa in 2011, for SweetSauna90 in 2011
and for SweetSaunaPro in 2012.
Awarded the Compasso d’Oro prize in 1995, Cristiano
Mino has been an industrial designer since 1992 in
various sectors such as electronics, automotive, sports,
illumination and furnishing accessories. As Starpool’s art
director since 2007, he had the far-sightedness to spot
the opportunity offered by the hospitality and private
sectors with a design that was not only characteristic
but could be recognised as Italian Design. This idea was
a success and, in 2009, his Starpool Spa Stable received
the 1st
Wellness Innovation Award. Over the last ten
years he has dedicated himself to various aspects of
the world of wellness and has on three consecutive
occasions won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award:
in 2011 for SweetSpa (Best of the Best), in 2011 for
SweetSauna90 and in 2012 for SweetSaunaPro. His is
the signature on all of Starpool’s SweetCollection.

The sauna that heats from within (35-40°C -
10% humidity). In this sauna the ceramic lamps,
filled with lava sand, and the low-temperature
infrared technique release heat through the
ergonomic seating to heat the body from within.
The backrests, fitted with SensoCare technology,
use special thermal sensors to constantly monitor
the skin temperature and release the heat while
regulating its intensity according to the readings.
The absence of any stove means that SweetSauna
infrared can also be installed in complete safety

in which the essence of oak wood meets the
transparency of glass. An ideal spatial continuity
for forming part of the vanguard of wellness,

giving the sauna a new perspective, where the
light filters from the outside to illuminate the
surroundings. Available in two sizes.
PROFESSIONAL WORLD
SweetSteamPro.
A functional evolution of the Turkish bath, the
SweetSteamPro steam bath (43/45°C - 98%
humidity) offers maximum hygiene thanks to the
crystal wall covering (grout surface less than 1%)
and solid surface benches. The ancient tradition of
well-being meets creativity, innovation and design
to develop a concept of great expressive force. This
project revolutionises the classic design of steam
baths, objectively improving the performances of
a place that has always been dedicated to personal
well-being. The patented Air Steam System
enhances the quality of the ambience: the steam,
aromatised with eucalyptus, is introduced into
the cabin from the cylinder, which is coated with
a solid surface, and mixed with the air for uniform
distribution. SweetSteamPro is a finished product,
supplied with internal coating and a wide range of
standard equipment. Ideal for Spas and wellness
centres, it is available in 4 different coatings and

SweetSaunaPro.
A Finnish sauna (80/90°C - 10% relative humidity)
that combines Nordic tradition with Italian design.
Asymmetries, two-tone patterns and non-parallel
lines show imagination and creativity. The sawn
or brushed effect of the oak surfaces emphasises
the natural texture of the wood and make the heat
bath yet more welcoming. SweetSauna Pro is a
finished product, supplied with internal coating
and a wide range of standard equipment. Ideal
for Spas and wellness centres, it is available in 2

SweetMediterraneanPro.
The ancient rituals of the hot baths are revived
to modern standards. This Mediterranean/
heat bath (45-50°C - 55/65% humidity) has a
modular system, selected coatings, innovative
technologies and patented techniques, allowing
SweetMediterraneanPro to offer an alternative to
the intense heat of sauna and steam bath, with
a soft, enveloping and tender warmth thanks
to its patented system of radiating walls. It also

The five models in the Relax Collection
guarantee the highest quality

traditional lounger into a furnishing

All Starpool loungers are available
with a wide variety of coverings, all
of which offer different technical
performances. The vast range of
fabrics and colours means that
Starpool loungers will fit in any type
of ambience, not just assuring warmth
and tactility but also colours and
fabrics designed for different tastes
and requirements in terms of style and

Starlounge, designed by Studio Bizzaro &
Partners, traces the lines of the body with an
essential design consisting of rounded forms,
emphasised by the high-quality coverings with
visible seams that give this lounger a versatility
and adaptability suited to every ambience
and style. The ergonomic form of Starlounge
guarantees optimal adhesion of the body: the
legs remain raised with the knees slightly above
the height of the heart, thus stimulating the
circulation.
Starlit, by Baldessari & Baldessari, is a chaise
longue in antique style that recalls the dormeuses
typical of the bedrooms and parlours of noble
residences in the 18th
century. The structure is
of olive wood enriched by an elegant inlay that
recalls the line of the leaves. The two cylinders
characterising the design of this seat can be used
both as containers for the two pillows for the head

Synua, designed by the Cipiuelle studio in
Florence, takes its name from its sinuous line
and is the result of careful, formal research
that guarantees the best possible comfort and
optimum adherence of the body to the padded
seat. The simple, elegant base of natural oak
wood or mocha oak is connected to a polished
steel bar that gives the seat a marked air of
determination.
SweetChair, signed by Fabio Alemanno, is
a seat that combines design and technology.
The precise ergonomics and versatile features
make this chaise longue an ideal choice for
either professional or home use. The very high
degree of comfort is assured by the reclining
back with its two different positions and the
heated marble slab with infrared technology
(maximum temperature 41.5°C) that produces
an unforgettable sensation of relaxation. The
waterproof structure of the chaise longue

The company has been active for 39 years now at both national and international level in the design and creation of wellness centres and Spas. Starpool, now credited among the manufacturers of outstanding products made in Italy, began life in the green heart of the Trentino Dolomites at Ziano di Fiemme in the Val di Fiemme. Its one aim was to give life and form not just to wellness products but also to a genuine all- round culture of wellness, consisting of technology, innovation and design both in the professional and the private spheres. With more than 1,400 Spas realised all over the world and 200 dwellings equipped with the home lines, Starpool offers a full range of products with solutions for every wellness concept: hotels, sports halls, day Spas, private Spas, yachts, beauty parlours and homes. There are two collections, Classic and Sweet, that contain the basic elements of every Spa such as saunas, steam baths, showers and Starpool’s core business is the professional wellness sector in the areas of hospitality, contract and marine, to which can be added the residential/home sector (20%). The company has an average turnover of 11 million euros (50% from the domestic market and 50% from other countries). The main markets of reference are Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Since 2006 Starpool has maintained an important partnership with Technogym (a world leader in the fitness sector) and OneonOne (a leader in the management of Wellness Areas), thus creating the leading network of operators in the wellness sector: a genuine One Wellness Provider. loungers, as well as all additional products and accessories. STARPOOL: THE COMPANY, THE TERRITORY 3
  • 6. www.starpool.com 1.2 History and growth The Starpool group was founded in 1975 thanks to the talent and resourcefulness of Ardelio Turri, father of current CEO Riccardo Turri, and the company initially specialised in the import of swimming pools from abroad. Over the years and in view of the evolution of the market, in 1985 the company widened its offer to include a “beauty division” with the prime objective of supplying products, equipment and assistance to the beauty sector, another market with major growth potential. In 1989 Starpool opened its in-house planning department and subsequently initiated the production of saunas and steam baths. It was from this time on that, drawing on the wellness tradition and culture of ancient Rome, Starpool rewrote and modernised the concept and practice of the “thermae”. Gradually the structures, components and aesthetic aspects of the various cabins were devised. The appropriate materials were selected, the first employees were appointed to the new division of the company and production and installation of products in local hotels began. In keeping with the aim of managing every activity directly or indirectly related to the care and harmonious development of the body, 2006 saw the signing of the prestigious partnership with the Technogym group, a world leader in the fitness & wellness sector. 1.3 Starpool today: a youthful team In the words of CEO Riccardo Turri, “The company reflects the people who work here”. Starpool has some 90 staff (planners, designers, consultants, technicians and craftspeople) whose average age is 34. Starpool is a truly young and dynamic company that pays careful attention to the traditions of “Made in Italy” without forgetting the international interests and aspects. This constant attention to innovation in terms of products, projects and materials is centred on the company’s Research & Development department where a team of highly- qualified engineers and technicians each day studies new materials and components in order to create leading-edge products, researching into the most reliable technologies and developing the best solutions to ensure maximum functionality. The in-house laboratory also tests all products by recreating conditions of extreme usage in order to guarantee the highest quality standards. Among the fundamental requirements guiding the design of Spas in every context are highly functional and contemporary design, the rigorous use of materials “Made in Italy”, a simple and intuitive approach to the installation and management of machinery and careful attention to user comfort. 4
  • 7. www.starpool.com 1.4 Corporate wellness The company’s head office at Ziano di Fiemme fully reflects its business philosophy: space on a human scale, functionality indissolubly linked to harmony of forms, open ambiences to share ideas and experiences of well-being. As well as the offices and production areas, the head office is home to the showroom, a display case covering 100 square metres dedicated to the full range of product innovations, the training room, dedicated to specialists in the field who wish to improve their skills and the Corporate Spa, a space to meet and relax where it is possible to get to know Starpool’s products and projects first-hand. Covering some 65 square metres, the Corporate Spa includes the hot rooms, with Finnish sauna, steam bath and Mediterranean bath, the areas dedicated to cold reaction with water, featuring flood showers and an ice cascade, and a space reserved for resting. Following its installation in 2007, the positive effects of physical, emotional and professional wellness have not been slow to manifest themselves. When the core business of a company is also effective practice: working at Starpool is a byword for well-being. 1.5 Val di Fiemme: the heart of well-being There is a “natural” link between Starpool and the Val di Fiemme, an obvious cradle for a company dedicated to the spreading of the culture of well-being. It Is from this wide valley in Trentino Alto-Adige, at the foot of the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site, that Starpool draws daily inspiration for its own work. Surrounded by the natural parks of Paneveggio and Monte Corno, over half of the Val di Fiemme is covered in forests of red fir, a vital resource for the economy and work of local craftspeople. This area produces the timber for the manufacture of the “perfect” violin and it is from here that the masters of Cremona came for wood to produce the world-famous Stradivarius violins. Passion, innovation, affinity, competence and eco-sustainability are the notions that guide the production of the companies that, like Starpool, have their roots in this area. 5

We express our passion for the culture of well-being through the design and constant search for quality of our products and services”, says Riccardo Turri, CEO Starpool. Achieving well-being means re-appropriating the capability of “being well”: knowledge that touches multiple aspects of life, from nutrition to physical activity, from the ambience in which we live to the way in which the mind copes with the tensions affecting it. In designing a product or planning a spa, Starpool starts from the assumption that the well-being experience revolves around the person, their expectations and the requirements of their physique through three fundamental elements: heat, water and relaxation. Heat in ambiences such as the sauna or steam bath, where the body is exposed to particular temperatures and humidity that cause specific physical reactions. Water as a fundamental element of reaction in bathrooms that restores the normal values of the body previously changed by exposure to heat. The teachings of ancient civilisations required that the Spa respect the requirements of the person and their physique. Four great traditions have influenced the contemporary spa ambience: the Finnish, Russian, Arab and Roman. The reduction of energy consumption by up to 15% for a normal daily Spa cycle helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions with consequent benefits for the atmosphere.
