▪ The Brazilian Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published Collegiate Board Resolution 98/2016. The Resolution establishes
new rules for the inclusion of certain drugs as over-the-counter drugs (OTCs)
▪ The new rules allow the inclusion of new drugs to the list of OTCs, setting out seven conditions concerning the following:

• Identifiable symptoms

• Management by the patient
• Low potential of risk
• Low addiction
▪ The Resolution seeks to provide clear rules to pharmaceutical companies that wish to submit applications for the reclassification of
their drugs as OTCs before ANVISA. A number of procedures must be followed after ANVISA's classification of the drug as an
OTC: for example, the marketing authorisation holder must submit a "request for sale category change" and a "notification for
leaflet information change“
