jutt Randhawa family.
Became youngest Microsoft Certified
Professional (MCP) at the age of 9 years.
kept the title until 2008.
Lived in Lahore and studied from Lahore
Grammar School.
Her hobbies are singing and writing
English poems.
Invited by Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft
Headquarters in USA.

Family:
Belongs to a historic home of Randhawa.
Many members have been successful in various fields.
Her family have no background of IT field.
Her father is col. Amjad Karim belongs to Pakistan army.
Her village (birth place) name was changed into Arfa Karim Nagar.
Her first institute was her home.
Her father brought her a computer mainly for email purposes.

Displayed an aptitude that exceede her years.
Noticing at the things she was accomplishing…..her father
brought her to APTECH.
Vision :
Her short life mirrors Pakistan engagement with IT.
She wanted to built a Digicon Valley. (education for people)

Professionals Forum for a stay of two weeks
in Dubai.
Dinner was arranged there
Ambassador of Pakistan as well as

Among 5000 developers, she was the
only Pakistani present there.
She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the
Microsoft Headquarters in USA.

7. Meeting with Bill Gates:
1.“Why aren’t there any kids in your company?
Why they can’t join your company? Why they
have to wait so much?”
He replied:
“ the kids should focus on their studies.”
2. “ Why aren’t there many women in your
company?”
He replied:
“ It is difficult to find women interested in the
field of technology.”
8. Interviews :
Had various interviews with various well known channels of
Television and Newspaper.
She said in an interview that:
“We should focus on our education. It is the basis of our
prosperity. We have to think at one level.
She said in another interview that:
“If you want to do something big in your life you must
remember that shyness is only in the mind. If you think shy, you
act shy. If you think confident, you act confident. Therefore
never let shyness conquer you mind.”
9. Cardiac arrest:
On December, 2011 she suffered a cardiac arrest after an
epileptic seizure that damaged her brain.
She was admitted to Lahore Combined Military Hospital
(CMH).
On January 9, 2012 Bill Gates chairman of Microsoft
contacted her parents and directed his doctors to adopt
“every kind of measure” for her treatment.
Bill Gates set up a special panel of international doctors who
remained in contact with her local doctors.
On January 13, 2012 Arfa Abdul Karim started to improve
and some part of her brain showed imrprovement.
10. Death :
On January 14, 2012 16 years old
Arfa Abdul Karim died at 9:50pm
at CMH Lahore.
The funeral was attended by the
chief minister of Punjab, Shahbaz
Sharif.
She was buried at her ancestral
village (Faisalabad).

Previously known as Software
Technology Park.
It was built in Lahore, Pakistan in
2009.
Home to Information Technology
University and PITB.
Main building consists of 17 floors and
is 106 meters high.
On January 15, 2012 chief minister of
Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif changed the
name to Arfa Software Technology
Park.
20. Conclusion:
Arfa Karim Randhawa, a name that will live in the hearts of
Pakistanis.
Her intelligence is a proof that there is unrecognized
potential in millions of young people that is yet to be tapped.
Her life is truly an inspiration for the woman in Pakistan, she
was a blessing for the whole nation.
There are so many things to praise about her not only her
high intellect but an equal appetite for art and literature.
She left a message around the globe in the form of an
interesting quote:
