a) Read the text
Mimar Sinan or Koca Mi'mâr Sinân was an Ottoman architect and civil
engineer. He was born in 1489 in Agirnas, Karaman.
He worked for sultans Suleiman the Magnificent,
Selim II, and Murad III.
He worked about fifty years for Ottoman Empire.
Although his masterpiece is the Selimiye Mosque in
Edirne, his most famous work is, perhaps, the
Suleiman Mosque in Istanbul.
During his long life he did not only design more than
a hundred mosques, but also 57 colleges, 48 bath-
houses, 35 palaces, eight bridges, six aqueducts or three hospitals.
He died in 1588, aged 98, and is buried
in a tomb of his own design in Istanbul,
in the cemetery just outside the walls of
the Süleymaniye Mosque. He was buried
near the tombs of his greatest patrons:
Sultan Suleiman I and Sultana Haseki
Hürrem, Suleiman's wife.
Selimiye Mosque, Edirne, Turkey.
Many years later his name was given to a Turkish state university, the Mimar
Sinan University of Fine Arts in Istanbul and, even, to a crater on the planet
Mercury.

Nadia Elena Comăneci is a former Romanian gymnast. She _________ famous for
