• Organise events that bring the stakeholders together
• Start to develop projects in collaboration with local leaders
5. • Built in 1968 as part of the Runcorn New Town Development
• It is in the top 10% most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK
• The residents had little trust in ‘Officials’
• 23 young men were arrested as part of Operation Gram.

• Two good schools, Community Centre, Church Hall
• A great Children’s Centre and the world’s best family support worker
• A new Police Community Support Officer
• A troupe of local veterans
• 50th anniversary taking place in 2018
7. Billy, Paul & Mo.
• Billy Jones – leader of Runcorn Veterans Association
70 active volunteers with a wide range of skills
• PCSO Paul Barker – new to Halton Brook and wanted
to build a better relationship with the community.
• Maureen Ball – Family Support Worker, great
relationship with local people,
8. • PCSO Paul supplied bikes
• Billy’s veteran volunteers were trained in bike repair
• Mo identified young people who were facing a social barrier
• Well Halton supplied funding to purchase a van and tools
Runcorn Bike Project
9. Following the success of the bike project, Billy
and the veterans set up a furniture up-cycling
project in partnership with Mo.
• 33 veterans volunteered 14000 hours
• 33 veterans showed improved well-being
• 451 Items upcycled
• 82 bikes distributed
• 35 young people trained
• 23 veterans into employment
• New base established

10. Following the success of the Bike Project there was a
different attitude towards the police in Halton Brook
Paul decided to launch another project, Runcorn
