Islamabad, Pakistan, Research Associate August 2015 – present
Prepared a training module for the capacitybuildingof TreatyImplementation Cells, at the provinciallevel,
to facilitateimplementationofthe sevencore human rights treatiesratifiedby the Government of Pakistan.
The core conventions included the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, International
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Convention on the Rights of the Child, Convention
on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination
againstWomen, Convention againstTorture and the Convention on the Eliminationof All Forms of Racial
Discrimination.
Conducted a review of international aviation conventions, including the Chicago and Montreal
Conventions, for a short research paper on Pakistan's civilaviation regime. The research paper included an
in-depth analysis of Pakistan's civil aviation regime and liability for domestic air accidents. Moreover, best
practices relating to accident investigation and manufacturer liability were also delineated.
Collectedallbilateral, trilateralandmultilateraltreatiesenteredintoby Pakistanand Afghanistanto propose
areas for cooperation.
Edited a paper on "Conceptualizing Cyber Warfare and Cyber Terrorism in the Context of Pakistan".
Engaged in extensive research pertaining to international environmental law and Pakistan's domestic legal
framework for environmental protection. Collected and organized notifications from all provinces
designating "Protected Areas". Drafted a research paper on environmental law, covering international and
domestic environmental protection regimes. This research paper then formed the basis of a presentation,
delivered by myself, to Government Officials, on environmental law.
Assisted in the drafting of a report on "Healthcare in Danger", an ICRC project delineating the regime for
healthcare professionals and emergency services under domestic law.
Researched and drafted an analyticalpaper on military courts in Pakistan, in light of the Supreme Court
judgment on the subject-matter.
Drafted a short report on Indo-Pak regional cooperation, in light of the Kishenganga Arbitration Award
and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
Researcher for the co-agent of Pakistan to the International Court of Justice in the case 'The Republic of
the Marshall Islands v. Pakistan". Tasks included reviewing all contentious cases before the Court.
