2. What is the Scientific Evidence?
Every program has a treatment protocol, but you want to know whether this is actually proven
successful or not. While there are a large number of therapeutic treatments available, not all
of them are backed by scientific evidence and research. Before you enter into any
rehabilitation facility, you want to make sure that the treatment and therapies at your rehab of
choice match with your beliefs and have evidence that supports its effectiveness.
Is It Possible to Personalize the Treatment Program?
Many programs use the same type of treatment for all patients. This means that there is a
specific set of treatment options and only one schedule of therapy. People start to use drugs
or alcohol for very different reasons and have different experiences in active addiction. This
means that it is impossible to treat everyone the same. The rehabilitation program is unlikely
to be effective unless the program specifically addresses that patient’s personal challenges.
Can the Treatment Plan be Updated as Needed?
Again, everyone is different. This means that some people are going to respond to treatment
right away while others may need (far) more time than initially expected. In order for treatment
to be effective, it is important that there is a personal therapist and/or therapeutic team that
the patient can regularly check in with. This can help determine whether the patient is
progressing accordingly and whether adjustments to the treatment plan are necessary.
How Long are Patients in Recovery?
If a patient is in recovery long (and remains actively engaged throughout the process), he or
she will be much better equipped to deal with any possible setback or temptations after they
leave the facility. Some programs only have a 30-day or less policy. Unfortunately, inpatient
treatment of 90 days or more has proven to be far more successful. It is simple logic really, if
you want to get good at something, you need practice. This is what people are able to do in
drug treatment.

will offer a combination of traditional therapy options (such as personal therapy) and
holistic/alternative treatments (meditation, yoga, acupuncture and more). This helps get the
patient a personalized treatment plan that is unique to them.
