2. OBJECTIVES
• This research aims to create a Coffee Bean Drying Machine without the support of
sunlight to produce standardized roasted coffee beans.
• In the present study, we evaluate the properties of wet green coffee beans and aim
to determine the value of the water content required after the drying process of the
coffee beans.
• This study also determines the maximum temperature required for the drying
process so that the surface of the beans do not rupture the quality of the coffee
beans are retained.
• This research determines the Coffee Bean Dryers operating conditions that try to
minimize the production time and human effort
• To make a complete mechanical device.
• To make a device which is suitable economically for small Scale industries: taking
into consideration the cost factor this device is suitable for small scale as well as
big scale industries.
3. METHODOLOGY
• As we start the designing process, first we will design all the parts and components,
then we will assemble those parts and components to make a complete model
• Once the design and fabrication of the model is done, we will start connecting the
electronic components as per the circuit diagram.
• When the basic procedures are completed, we will start collecting all the required raw
materials to begins the fabrication process.
• As per the previous parameters and calculations obtained, we will start fabricating
based on the domestic requirements like small scale coffee planter.
• Assembling process will begin according to the design where we will join all the parts,
components, sub-assemblies by welding and various mechanical processes.
• After all the setup is connected as per the design parameter, the dryer is ready for its
final test.
• For testing purpose, we will put coffee beans inside the dryer and check all the
electronic systems and make sure that the expected outcome, that is, the moisture of
coffee beans reaches around 12% .
• Hence we will stop the machine and take out the roasted coffee beans.

7. EXPERIMENT:-
• The testing of the drying duration on the mechanical coffee bean drying machine
was aimed to compare the duration between the drying process on the machine
and the help of sunlight.
• The testing was conducted through the drying with 3 attempts for 3-kilogram
weight if coffee beans.
• On the machine, the water content of coffee bean was checked every 15 minutes.

2. 3 26.75% 11.21% 90 minutes
3. 3 27.99% 11.73% 94 minutes
8. RESULTS:-
• After testing, we notice that 3-kilograms of coffee beans with initial
moisture content ranging between 24%-28%, requires an
approximate time of 90 mins to roast perfectly..
• We conclude that, in order to maintain the quality of the coffee
bean after roasting, the water content should be around 12%.
• In order to prevent the rupturing of the coffee bean, the temperature
of the heating process should be maintained within 40 degree
Celsius.
9. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY COMPONENT / INNOVATIVENESS / NOVELTY
OF THE PROJECT
• Our project is based on the Thermodynamic principle of
heat Conduction and Convection.
• The technology used for the project is easily
understandable by an unskilled man and can be easily
operated.
• We developed this innovation in order to reduce the
struggles faced by the small-scaled coffee bean farmers.
• This project is cost-effective, easily portable, and time-
effective when compared to other methods used.
