The movie that I selected and watched was Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg back in the 90's. It was a pretty frightening movie
but overall, a spectacular movie with great characters like, Tom Hanks and Matt Damon and had some amazing camera shots and heartwarming and
sad quotes. The film starts off with Captain Miller and most of the American troops start invasion into Normandy, France attacking the Germans.
Some casualties happen with Miller and his troops. Miller gets a call from the General of the Army ordering Miller to assemble a rescue team to

Enrichment Project: Saving Private Ryan Saving Private Ryan has affected me emotionally, for the most part. I had no idea what World War II
was like, and the movie made me feel like I was there. Even though in the movie, Captain Miller goes out of his way to save Private Ryan, it made
me realize that soldiers actually did this back then to save their friend's life. Maybe that certain person was not their friend, but soldiers would still

During one part of the movie, the men make a choice to run across an open field to get behind enemy lines. One of Miller's men, Wade, was killed
in the mini battle to get to cover. If it was me, I would try to figure out a different route that would not require my men to be put right up against the
enemy. Miller and their men run out of ammo while they are holding a town called Ramelle. My goal would be to make sure everyone in my
squad has enough ammo to last a German attack. To be honest, I would stay with Private Ryan to make sure that he stays alive and that the bridge
is controlled by the Americans. If the bridge is lost, then the Germans would take over and then my squad and I would all be dead. My men and I
would have to fight, but I would at least get more men to fight the Germans. During one scene, part of the 2nd SS Panzer Division arrive in Ramelle
with infantry and armor. I would try to devise a plan to take out the Germans one–by–one, instead of facing tanks that take many bullets to destroy. I

The beaches were indeed covered with bodies, and the water was red with the blood of the slaughtered soldiers. The recreation of this battle by
Steven Spielberg has succeeded in bringing this war, this battle in particular, out of the history books and into larger than life color on America's
movie screens. Everyone I interviewed already knew of the terrible acts of the Germans during World War II, but hey had not, however, ever
really been able to comprehend the degree of loss that many families experienced. They had also never really been able to picture the battles of the
soldiers themselves in quite the detail that Saving Private Ryan provided them with. This is one movie that should not be negatively reviewed
because of the degree of violence. Saving Private Ryan is about a horrible war, that took place because of a madman's craziness, and this war was an
ugly thing that happened very much like this movie portrayed it. The continuous gore is difficult to watch at times, but leaves the viewer with a greater

Saving Private Ryan is a film staged within World War II, during which an incredible mission to locate and bring home Private Ryan is launched in
behind enemy lines within Europe. The return of Private Ryan is hoped to increase moral in the homeland and benefit combat efforts. Captain Miller
is in charge of the reluctant team tasked with the rescue mission of Private Ryan, not knowing where he is at or if he is even alive. The company
finally finds Private Ryan even after several enemy encounters and finding another soldier named "Private Ryan". Once Private Ryan is located they
give him the news that his three brothers were killed while fighting in the war. Private Ryan chooses not to go home and continues to fight in the war.

His fear overcame him and he froze up resulting in failing to accomplish his duty as a soldier. Once again, using deontological ethics, if the presence of
a good will is what makes an action morally good, regardless of its consequence (Rosenstand 2013, page 284). So, even though the Corporal was not
able to engage the enemy due to his fear overcoming him, he is still admirable for attempting to do the right thing. Although the film "Saving Private
Ryan" can be viewed through several moral views, overall the film can be best viewed through the deontological ethics. The majority of the film is
based off of someone intending to do the right thing even when the consequences were high. The company had duties to uphold as soldiers and they
did what they had to in order to fulfill them. According to Kant, humans usually know what they ought to do, and that is almost always the opposite of

Movies have been used as a medium to convey messages for nearly as long as they have existed. I personally love movies, from films with complex

remaining squad to fight as well. The Germans overwhelms them with many soldiers and unfortunately Captain Miller and majority of his squad
is killed. However, Private Ryan survives and is able to go back home. In the end our beloved Private Ryan is able to return home but we lost great
soldiers such as Captain Miller whose grave was seen in the beginning and end of the film, which of course Ryan visited after years of the war.
This movie was truly a gift to be able to see what people who dedicate their lives for to help keep us safe have to go through. The visuals and

Despite the attention to detail Saving Private Ryan still has some inaccuracies. For instance, the film shows only American soldiers. D–Day was an
allied operation that involved many countries yet only Americans are shown. The Portsmouth museum reports that the "United Kingdom, Canada, the
US, Australia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, and Poland." (D–day museum Portsmouth) all
participated in the D–day landings. The chances for an American unit walking through Normandy immediately following D–Day and not meeting any
allies of another nationality are highly unlikely. The mission would not likely have happened; the current sole survivor policy does not provide
rescue missions, the high mortality rate making those missions uneconomic.. The policy today simply allows a soldier who has suffered the loss of
a family member a resignation from the service if the given service member is having a crisis that is tough luck. However, the Chief of Staff who

The cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, who also shot "Schindler's List," brings a newsreel feel to a lot of the footage. He manages to make
everything visually intelligent. Amongst the chaos of the D–day landing scenes, kaminski focuses on the attack on the stationed machine–gun nests,
and a prolonged sequence of a defensive actions on the bridge. The cinematographer does this is a way that keeps us oriented. When the exposition

To convey the terrible truth that the Allies lost 10,000 men on June 6th, the director had to recreate the gruesome blood soaked waters and beaches
and the piles of dead and dying soldiers. The scene when Miller's men go rummaging through the huge pile of dog tags is surreal.
The horrors of war were depicted by the constant threats to the characters lives, the brutal conditions of the bad weather, hunger and combat. Soldiers
had to battle the enemy along with nature. Soldiers would become stressed, paranoid and start losing their personalities. As Captain Miller says, "I just

Having the landing shot at dawn and when the tide was out produced an invaluable sense of reality for the following graphical scenes. Soldiers were
able to take cover behind the heavy timbers because the tide was out. Operation Overlord (D–Day) called for the invasion to take place "as close to low
tide as possible so that most of the German obstacles and mines could be seen" . Saving Private Ryan represented both the feelings of U.S. soldiers and

There are many themes throughout the film Saving Private Ryan, but one of the biggest is the theme of sacrifice and we are introduced to this
theme very early on in the film when we see the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. We see the sacrifice that the soldiers of World War ll
gave up to protect the freedom of the united states for their generation and future generations. we see this theme again In the scene in back to back
scenes when Private Caparzo is killed by the sniper in the towers when he is trying to help the family with children, it 's seen again in the next scene in
the church when Tom Hanks's character Captain Miller is reflecting on the lose of Caparzo, he speaks about how he deals with the lose of a man in
his command. He does not Utter the word sacrifice but he Implies it by talking about how when he loses a man it happened to save the lives of two
or three more men.The theme of sacrifices is scene for one last time in the movie and it is probably the biggest and most prevalent of this the scenes

The film Saving Private Ryan, is about a United States Army Captain (CPT) and his chosen squad that are tasked with locating and recovering Private
(PVT) Ryan, after the news of his three brothers' deaths reaches the Army. The CPT chooses a few specific men to aid him with this mission.
The first dilemma being whether the lives of the CPT's eight men is worth the life of a single soldier. In the film the CPT and his men are able to
recover PVT Ryan at the cost of five of his men and his own life. If I were in the CPT's place, I would have done the best to complete the mission
while still holding to the Soldier's Creed, which I believe the CPT did do. Toward the end of the film, having found PVT Ryan, the CPT and his
squad could have recovered PVT Ryan and left his unit to hold their own against the attacking enemy. However, the CPT, being the most senior
ranking, assumed command and assisted in the defense of the key terrain the enemy was seeking to seize.
During the middle of the film, the CPT and his squad encounter a French family that attempts to give their child to one of the CPT's men. The
dilemma here is that the Soldier the family gives there child to wants to keep her safe, even though he has a perilous mission to still accomplish. The
Soldier accepts the child from the family, against his CPT's orders, and is unfortunately shot by an enemy sniper. While the enemy sniper is engaged
and destroyed, the Soldier bleeds out and

Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg and released in the United States on July 24, 1998, is based during and after the Invasion of
Normandy during World War II. The movie starts out with an old man in a cemetery, studying a single grave. The man breaks down in tears, and
the screen fades into what is presumably a flashback. Soldiers are mounted upon boats, moving towards a beach's shore. The men exit the boats,
and are thrusted into a battle with the opposing side. There are many casualties, and the scene changes to a woman finding out that three of her four
sons have died in battle. She is promised the safe return of her fourth and final son, Private James Ryan. A rescue team is sent out, led by Captain
John Miller. The team oscillates between several groups of soldiers until they find Ryan, part of a group of few, guarding a bridge. Ryan refuses to
leave his post and fellow soldiers, and the rescue team is forced to stay to protect him....show more content...
Miller is shot, his dying words being directed at Ryan. Miller states that Ryan deserves to go home, that he has earned it. The flashback ends, and
the viewer discovers that the old man is James Ryan, far in the future, and he is observing Captain John Miller's grave. Ryan says he hopes his life
was good enough for Miller to have given up his life to allow Ryan to return home. The movie ends on an American flag swaying in the wind.
Saving Private Ryan's depiction of the Invasion of Normandy seems fairly accurate, as well as many smaller details, but, as with all movies, there are
also many inaccuracies when compared to actual historical
