1. Hassan Haider is currently a member of the Class
of 2013 at Lenape High School in Medford, New Jersey. His
political involvement began when he volunteered for Obama’s
Presidential campaign and a local Congressional race in 2008.
Through his experience with campaign volunteering, Hassan
realized that politics and government were his passion. He has
a great interest in how our nation works and how it may be
improved, as well as in keeping a progressive agenda for our
country so it may continue to develop and advance.
He is proud to announce his candidacy for Programs Director of
High School Democrats of America.
In the summer of 2008, Hassan became the Deputy Director of the New
Jersey Student Democrats. In this capacity, he has helped plan an annual
leadership seminar to help local high school and college students engage in
the civic process. He was also responsible for maintaining communication
with regional coordinators, organizing the formation of new chapters, and
recruiting young students to get involved in politics. In the summer of 2010,
Hassan attended the first annual HSLA sponsored by YDA in Washington,
D.C. Here, he learned many unique leadership and campaign skills that he
will utilize as Programs Director to improve HSDA.
Hassan has a unique outlook on his experience as a child growing up in
America. His father is a first generation immigrant and his mother was born
and raised in the United States. His maternal grandfather came to the United
States in the 1950’s to create a better life for himself and his children.
Hassan’s grandfather was able to truly achieve the American Dream by
earning a Ph.D. and going on to become a successful business owner while
still serving as a public servant to his community. His hard work and
dedication to his community throughout his life has inspired Hassan to take a
proactive role in public service. From the success of his immigrant father to
the successes of his grandfather, Hassan embodies the American Dream. He
has seen firsthand the lure of the American Dream and how it serves as a
beacon of hope to many. To Hassan, preserving this American Dream so
other kids can flourish like he has is crucial for the country and its future.
Hassan understands the role High School students play in elections and
their power as a coalition. By organizing properly and implementing
aggressive strategies as Programs Director, Hassan knows the HSDA can help
keep the nation on a progressive agenda and preserve the American Dream
this nation is known for.
