Anxiety
Generalized anxiety disorder is a mental
disorder characterized by general, persistent anxiety not
associated with specific objects or situations. Often
accompanied by complaints of constant nervousness,
trembling, muscle tension, sweating, palpitations,
dizziness and discomfort in the solar plexus area . Often
there may be a fear of illness or accident that extends to
oneself and/or loved ones, as well as various other worries
and apprehensions. It is more common in women and in
many cases is associated with chronic environmental
stress. There are tendencies towards an undulating
course of the disorder and chronicity.
About the disease
Increased anxiety for no reason is not a separate
pathology, but a symptom of a variety of diseases. It
occurs in both children and adults of all ages, more often
in residents of large cities, since the rhythm of life in them
undoubtedly affects the state of a person’s mental sphere
and leads to its disorders.
Since ancient times, people have felt anxiety during times
of danger. In response to it, the human body reacted
according to the “fight or flight” principle, that is, it either
actively defended itself or tried to hide from danger. Today
people have no less potential “dangers” than in ancient
times. this is an overly demanding boss, and the flow of
cars on the road, and financial instability, and problems of
personal life, wars, natural disasters, and so on... But not
every such situation can be actively responded to - more
often we ignore the feeling of anxiety, swallow resentment,
remain silent we experience discomfort. As they
accumulate, unexpressed emotions lead to disruption of
the body’s adaptation mechanisms – pathological anxiety
and the diseases that manifest it develop.
Symptoms
When we talk about increased anxiety, we usually mean
disorders of the neurotic spectrum, that is, those
associated with stress. A feeling of anxiety is one of the
leading symptoms. It can occur sporadically in the form of
attacks (panic attack), in certain situations (for example,
while riding a bus or before a public speaking) or bother
the patient throughout the day. varying in intensity from
weak to pronounced. Depending on the disorder, the
symptom of which is increased anxiety, it may be
accompanied by other manifestations, including:
 a feeling of fear (of something specific, such as death, or
inexplicable, without a specific object or situation);
 sudden mood swings;
 tearfulness;
 general weakness, fatigue, weakness;
 decreased concentration;
 unpleasant sensations (feelings of crawling, tingling,
burning), discomfort, nagging or other pain in the
body;
 vegetative symptoms (feeling of palpitations,
interruptions in heart function, fluctuations in blood
pressure, a feeling of lack of air, as if it is impossible
to breathe deeply, chilliness of the limbs or, on the
contrary, episodes when one feels hot, sweating).
 feeling of a lump in the throat;
