More than Just Lines on a Map: Best Practices for U.S Bike Routes
Splunk_Recommendation
1. I hired Hooman after interviewing more than 30 candidates from all over the
United States and from some of the best universities in the world. Like many,
Hooman had a great resume, good grades, tough course work, and was
determined to find a summer internship. However, Hooman excelled in two
interview areas that sealed the deal for this internship at Splunk. Hooman was
very articulate and was able to explain complex engineering topics in a way that
was easy to understand. Hooman also had very interesting side projects that
showed that he had a great desire to learn.
After Hooman was hired, in typical Splunk culture, we threw him in our
ongoing projects and really saw him struggle and grow tremendously as an
engineer. Splunk is a very intense engineering shop with deep computer science
concepts being implemented in every part of the product. From search
algorithms, to machine learning, to squeezing the the most from your CPU,
Splunk deals with everything. For Hooman to not just survive in this environment,
but to excel and contribute to our team in just a few months speaks volumes
about Hooman's engineering talent.
Splunk was very fortunate to have Hooman as an intern and we would gladly
bring him on again for next summer. I would strongly recommend Hooman for
this scholarship and any future engineering opportunities.
