New year
- 5. We know that you will
be in it and we are safe
in your hands.
- 6. Lord, for the years
your love has kept
and guided,
urged and inspired
us, cheered us on our
way,
- 7. sought us and saved
us, pardoned and
provided:
Lord for the years, we
bring our thanks
today.
- 8. Lord, for that word,
the word of life which
fires us,
speaks to our hearts
and sets our souls
ablaze,
- 10. Lord, for our land in
this our generation,
spirits oppressed by
pleasure, wealth and
care:
- 11. for young and old, for
commonwealth and
nation,
Lord of our land, be
pleased to hear our
prayer.
- 12. Lord, for our world
where men disown
and doubt you,
loveless in strength,
and comfortless in
pain,
- 14. Lord for ourselves; in
living power remake
us-
self on the cross, and
Christ upon the throne,
- 15. past put behind us, for
the future take us:
Lord of our lives, to
live for Christ alone.
- 19. As with gladness, men
of old
Did the guiding star
behold
As with joy they hailed
its light
- 21. As with joyful steps
they sped
To that lowly manger
bed
There to bend the knee
before
- 23. As they offered gifts
most rare
At that manger rude
and bare;
So may we with holy
joy,
- 24. Pure and free from
sin’s alloy,
All our costliest
treasures bring,
Christ, to Thee, our
heavenly King.
- 25. Holy Jesus, every day
Keep us in the narrow
way;
And, when earthly
things are past,
- 28. Thou its Sun which
goes not down;
There forever may we
sing
Alleluias to our King!
- 32. O Star of wonder, star
of night
Star with royal beauty
bright
Westward leading,
still proceeding
- 34. Born a King on
Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown
Him again
King forever, ceasing
never
Over us all to reign
- 35. O Star of wonder, star
of night
Star with royal beauty
bright
Westward leading, still
proceeding
- 39. O Star of wonder, star
of night
Star with royal beauty
bright
Westward leading, still
proceeding
- 41. Myrrh is mine, its
bitter perfume
Breathes of life of
gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bl
eeding, dying
- 43. O Star of wonder, star
of night
Star with royal beauty
bright
Westward
leading, still
proceeding
- 47. O Star of wonder, star
of night
Star with royal beauty
bright
Westward leading,
still proceeding
- 49. The home of God is
among us.
We are glad God is
here.
- 50. Let us give God thanks
and praise.
We are thankful for
our lives and praise
God for blessings
towards us
- 51. We are grateful to
you, O God, Creator of
a new heaven and a
new earth, and of gifts
yet to come, more than
we can ever imagine.
- 55. But if we desire Him,
He is close at hand;
For our native country
Is our Holy Land.
- 57. In our fertile cornfields
While the sheaves are
bound,
In our busy markets
Jesus may be found.
- 58. He is more than near
us,
If we love Him well;
For He seeketh ever
In our hearts to dwell.
