How to Save Our Environment
The environment as we know it, isn't as green and luscious as it should be. There are steel monsters that block out the sun, huffing out dangerous
smoke, and leaking out poisonous chemicals into rivers and streams, vehicles pumping out harmful fumes, people disposing of waste in a way that isn't
safe/right and all other kinds of sources that ruin the planet. With the current environmental issues that plague the environment and planet, people need
to do what they can to help save the Earth. We cannot depend on a higher authority now. The Hopenhagen summit which I'm sure many of you are
aware of, held in Copenhagen in the year 2009, did nothing to solve or procure methods for the damages done to the planet. We are still living the way

Recycling Recycling is a method of transforming items that can be reusable once they're disposed off by the public. This means that whatever is
thrown out, like paper, tins, cardboard and so on, can be put through the process of reproducing them, to make new products. Not all plastic is
recyclable, and must be avoided as much as possible. The environment cannot degrade plastic, so these are left to scatter and collect in places.
Don't waste anything, and try to come up with ways on things you can use them again. Like say old magazines, newspapers and art paper can be
used for projects. Try turning something you don't need anymore into a work of art and use it for another purpose instead. Be creative when it comes
to things that you don't want that is in good condition, or sell them off, or better yet, give it away to charity. With these environmental ethics in mind,
we should be able to do what we can individually, for the results to have a bigger impact on the planet at large. Don't think that by being
environmental conscious, you are being a sissy in some way if you were to point it out to someone who's

The environment has always been a necessity for humanity since we first appeared thousands of years ago. Without the emotional support and physical
resources nature has provided us, our ancestors would have never lived long enough to reproduce. Despite the importance of nature, humanity has been
creating devastating effects on our planet, destroying the most beautiful and valuable object that only exist in our Solar System. Our self–centered
decisions has had colossal impact on the Earth. We have polluted the oceans with our waste, removed forests that belonged to nature for man–made
structures, and released toxins which depletes the amount of ozone in the Earth's stratosphere. However, even with the desire of people wanting to save
the environment, many questions have been raised to debate on how humanity can protect nature. In order to reach that stage, environmentalist had to
consider one question. What does it mean to care about the environment? According to most of dictionaries, environmental care is to protect and
improve the conditions of the world's water, air, land, and organisms. Using this definition, environmentalist developed the concept of "going green,"
ideas and methods that would recreate nature through the use of making responsible decisions and healthy lifestyles. Regardless of whether people
agree with the concept, does "going green" meet the definition of caring for the environment? From how the public sees it, including myself, they
would agree that

Caring About Our Environment Essay
Caring About Our Environment
Improving and maintaining the earth's environment is becoming a more important task every day of our lives. Due to ignorance and frequent
carelessness, this important task is quickly becoming a critical one. For this reason, I took it upon myself to construct a strategic plan to enlighten my
peers to the problems of our environment. I did this in hopes that it would encourage everyone to act responsibly towards improving and maintaining
the environment. With ongoing threats to the earth's water supply, atmosphere, and surface, I found it necessary to devise a method of environmental
enlightenment. I plan to apply this method at my place of academic study, The University. If supported by the faculty...show more content...
I recently discovered that one cheeseburger takes more than 700 gallons of water to produce (includes water consumed by cows, water used to irrigate
the cornfields that feed the cows, and the water used to produce the beef and cheese). When considering the millions of cheeseburgers that are
consumed worldwide everyday, it is evident that the earth's water supply is declining rapidly. Due to air pollution, theozone layer is also being
consumed at an extreme rate. Its arch nemesis is the various fumes from cars and factories. Scientists estimate that each 1% drop in ozone levels
causes a 3 to 6% rise in skin cancer cases. Since the ozone layer prevents most ultraviolet and other high–energy radiation from penetrating to the
earth's surface, this is a crisis that has to be rectified. The ozone's depletion has dropped to a level so thin that if we brought it down to Earth, it would
only be as deep as the thickness of three dimes. The only positive outlook concerning this matter is that the ozone has the ability to reconstruct itself
when UV–C rays break the bond of O2. Single oxygen atoms combine with O2 to form ozone (UV–B rays limit this process still yet). This evidence
shows that the world is in dire need of an environmental resurrection. In order for this to occur and be successful, it would require an effort by every
individual nation of our world.
My resolution requires that The University of South Carolina

Importance Of Environment Essay
The environment plays a significant role in life. It is an essential part of our life. A clean environment is very necessary to live a peaceful and healthy
life. An environment is the natural surroundings which help life to grow and nourish on this earth. It helps human beings, animals and other living
things to grow and develop naturally. But now days, our everyday actions and decisions are negatively impacting the environment, causing pollution,
deforestation, overfishing. We are disturbing our environment in many ways which affecting not only the environment but all living beings. Any type

All across the world, people are facing challenging environmental problems every day. Global warming is the biggest problem that our planet is
facing right now. It is one of the most current and widely discussed problem. In short, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living
things on earth.Climate changes like global warming is the result of human practices like emission of greenhouse gases. Global warming leads to
rising temperatures of the oceans and the earth surface causing melting of polar ice caps, rise in sea levels and also lead to natural disaster such as
flash floods and desertification. A decade ago, global warming was not much of a concern as it is now. No matter how much we are informed about it
, we as a society seem to ignore the future disasters that global warming will acquire. Global warming is a "global" dilemma and everyone has an
obligation to help reduce emissions. Human influence has always been a very serious issue to Global warming. We as human are not taking care of the
earth. Human influence to this global warming is more than the natural causes .The earth has been changing for many years until now it is still
changing because of modern lifestyle of human. Human activities include industrial production, gas emission, burning fossil fuel and deforestation. Gas

The importance of the environment appears when many disconcerting events throughout the years have emerged: tsunami and flooding, drought and
starving, pollution, declining animal populations and many others. Looking behind these events is make us realize that we have caused irreversible
damaged, through our daily behaviors.
We now live in a modern, consumerist and largely urban existence throughout the developed world and we consume a lot of natural resources every
day. ENVS course focuses on understanding cause and effect of social, economic and environmental impacts between our need and our product
technologically and economically, and how to protect the environments in which we and others live. In ENVS class we do not learn just about the
environment, but also about our health as a society in ensuring that no people or areas of life suffer as a result of, and also about examining the
longer–term effects of the human activities and asking questions about how it improved and to ensure the quality of life for this and future generations.
Teaching students about sustainability have been very important. It develops the knowledge, values, and worldviews required to make certain that
there's enough for everyone, forever. It's different to other learning areas as it focuses on protecting natural environments and creating an ecologically
and socially just world through informed action. Sustainability curriculum in CU Denver develops the capabilities, skills, and knowledge for

Preserving Our Environment
Many people assume that the environment is in no danger. They believe that with advancing technology, we don't need to worry about renewing natural
resources, recycling, and finding new ways to produce energy. They argue that one person in the world does not make a large difference. In actuality,
each individual's contribution greatly affects our environment. Our natural resources are running low, and we must work together to save them and the
Earth from ruin.
Recycling is so important in the effort to preserve our environment for future generations. We are running out of places to putlandfills. My neighbor,
Nick, believes that the U.S. has enough land for our own waste, and we...show more content...
Not only does this use up 85% of their waste, leaving behind only ash, but it also preserves the fossil fuels that they would have otherwise had to use
for energy to produce heat. They have been forced to come up with ideas like this because they do not have enough space for landfills, and as a result,
they have greatly contributed to helping the environment. An additional alternative source of energy comes from the sun. Already there is talk about
solar powered cars, and many people currently have solar panels installed in their homes. This eliminates the need to use large amounts of fossil fuels
for heat and power.
Recycling also saves natural resources such as trees that are cut down and not replaced at a quick enough rate. According to Greenpeace, in the past
thirty years, fifteen percent of the Amazon rain forest has been destroyed by logging. Not only are the trees gone, but lost forever are the thousand of
species of plants and animals that call the Amazon home. It is also infringing on the livelihood of Native Indian tribes that live deep in the forest.
Recycling the paper we already have would cut down dramatically on our need to produce more, and saving these precious natural areas would then be
possible.
Nick also argues that recycling takes too much time and is an inconvenience. The simple answer to this is a call for better methods of recycling. Easier

To Save the Earth
I wonder how much the front yard of my childhood home is worth. Of course, it's worth less now than before. Once, a stately tree stood in each
corner: a tall lilac, a pine, a cherry tree, and a droopy evergreen. My favorite tree lived in the middle. I never knew what kind it was, but every spring
it blossomed in delicate pink, and on warm afternoons, I read under its canopy. The front yard no longer looks like that, however. My father removed the
lilac bush because it made the lawn too difficult to mow, and cut many of the branches from thepine and my pink–flowered tree so that friends could
park their cars on our lawn rather than getting ticketed for parking on the street.
Eventually, my tree died from those...show more content...
He likens destroying our environmental heritage to destroying our cultural one. He questions whether we can really replace or improve upon the
works of Shakespeare, Beethoven, Goethe and the Beatles the way some claim science will one day allow us to do with living creatures. Pointing to
various psychological studies, Wilson also suggests that we instinctively feel an affinity for other forms of life and hence that living in balance with
nature is necessary for our mental well being. Although thought–provoking, his stance isn't persuasive enough to convince someone like my dad, or
even me.
To convince someone like my dad that the environment is worth saving, a monetary value needs to be attached to it. Wilson does so, exploring the
value of the environment as both a source of raw materials and a provider of services. Particularly compelling is his discussion of the forested
watershed in the Catskill Mountains of New York, which purifies the water supply for New York City. As the watershed became more and more
polluted, "Officials in New York City...could build a filtration plant to replace the Catskills Watershed, at $6 billion to $8 billion capital cost, followed
by $300 million annual running costs; or else they could restore the Catskills Watershed to somewhere near its original purification capacity for $1
billion, with subsequently low maintenance costs."
He also estimates that

Ever since Ford put out the first main line production car, there has been a market for gasoline. Since then, the automobile has made a humongous
impact on the United States, as well as the entire world. This new invention allowed the average citizen to commute to work without the hassle of mass
transit and horses. However, with this new supply of automobiles came the demand for the fuel they required to run. It was not known back then that
the consumption of these fuels could actually hurt the environment, or even run dry. Today it is commonly known that these fuels aren't unlimited, or

(#2) There are many reasons why humanity should consider hydrogen cells:
1.They have a cleaner non–combustion operation. Hydrogen cells only release 45% the CO2 emissions of coal and 47% the CO2 emissions from
producing energy fossil fuels. (#2)
2.The fuel cells have higher efficiencies, from 50% to 65%. Normal combustion engines have an efficiency of 12% to 15%. (#2)
3.Fuel cells are a reliable source of power. They have a 99.9999% reliability rating. (#2)
Comparing these statistics to the normal combustion engines it is easy to see why fuel cells would help reduce pollution. Also, fuel cells would
provide reliable power that could be supplied to so many power using technologies. There is unfortunately one major draw back to the use of fuel
cells, cost. Fuel cells are currently very expensive. However, with research there can be a way to mass produce these cells, which would decrease price
and increase amount.
While hydrogen fuel cells rely more on technology to be created, there are other forms of energy that occur more naturally. One such form is
geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is renewable heat energy from deep within the earth. Heat is brought to the near surface of the earth and
intruded into the earth's crust of molten magma. (#2) Geothermal

Human Impact On Environment Essay
Since the dawn of the industrial revolution, human activities have had an undeniable impact on the environment. The destruction of the environment
has far–reaching consequences, and there is little that has been done to help improve, not just maintain, the environment. As seen in the degradation
of our soil, air quality, and water availability, current human behavior causes a decline in the earth's health, and current environmental protections
are few and far between. Soil quality is currently declining, and good soil is something that is vital to the continuation of healthy agricultural
practices and healthy people. Without good soil, there can be no base to the buildings that are created, and no roots for the plants we grow. When
there is no water available, power is not generated by giant dams we build, and the irrigation we dig is useless. If there is no water, there is no life,
and with no life, the world's ecosystems are destabilized, and we are thrown out of balance. The natural world relies on the careful balancing of
man–made and organic, and with the regulations we currently have, the scales are tipping towards a man–made catastrophe. A prime example of
human impact is the global issue of water scarcity, something that can affect first and third world countries alike. The human need for shelter and food
cause expanding development, which, in turn, cause increased amounts of pollution to enter into the environment. "Population growth and
development also produce water pollution, which further diminishes available water supplies" (Cooper). Human activity also tends to be one of
overuse, especially in the case of water. Many industries use large quantities of water, such as agriculture, industrial and commercial needs, mining
uses, and thermoelectric power generation. "In the United States, these four major categories of users combined add up to the withdrawal of more
than 338,000 million gallons of fresh water a day from surface and groundwater resources. Only about 27 percent of the water withdrawn by them is
actively used" (Stuart, 25). The unused water is recycled, to be put back where it came from, but it could bring pollutants back into water storage areas.
With enough time, the aquifer or river

Saving The Environment Essay
When I imagine the world, I imagine a world with blue skies, green grass and trees, crystal water and fresh air. This sounds pretty good, moreover
imagine a world where the skies are gone, where trees become scarce and the water is a bonus that just limited people can have it. Where the jungles
and the animal species were only part of the history. Imagine a world where all people needs to wear protection like anti–pollutions masks to breathe
and special clothes to protect their skin against the UV rays. A world where the planet earth temperature can increase at extremely levels that is
impossible to bear for walk or play. In this time, we cannot imagine a world where all the natural resources are gone and consequently the human
extension is a reality. These toughs can be just imaginary, but what if they become real? Is it possible that these thoughts really happened? Serious
environmental problems are happening at this time. These complications happen for one simple reason, people do not pay attention about the
importance of caring the environment and saving natural resources for future generations. There is one activity that includes reusing materials or
products to save energy and raw materials, looks like a good solution for all the environmental problems occurring in our planet. Since early ages,

Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment
Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and apparent social problem that needs to be addressed
before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water
impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth's deterioration falls on the human race, however, some of the blame does
fall on industries, that for example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the
environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage in environment–friendly activities
is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment.
This change is urgent because "problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you've shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage
spirals out of control" (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardian news article, Humans have destroyed a tenth of
Earth's wilderness in 25 years–study, where the effects of deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals' habitats are
disrupted, consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be
restored. Humans

Importance Of Protecting The Environment Essay
Our environment undoubtedly has many things we can use to benefit our everyday lives. Even if our environment is not in tip–top shape, we need to
start taking care of it better. If we don't many things will happen. These things include plants dying, animals going extinct, air becoming polluted, coral
reefs dying, and water rapidly coming contaminated. Another problem our environment has to face, overcome, or adapt too is Global Warming. Global
Warming has and will continue to impact our environment worldwide if we do not begin taking immediate action and do something to protect our
environment.
Protecting our environment is indeed the first action that should be taken. Protecting the environment should take place locally and globally in my
opinion. There are many things that our local environment could do that would have have a tremendous impact on our environment that genuinely
would not take oodles of effort. A few of these could be as easy as recycling soda cans, old school or work papers, and glass bottles and taking them
to a local recycling center. When you recycle you are reusing things or making them into new things. Two more examples would be hosting or
participating in a highway clean up, or planting a community garden at a park. Globally, humans are responsible for Greenhouse Gasses, pollution, and
fossil fuel shortages. Globally, if everyone pitched in just a little bit, greenhouse gas emissions could go down drastically. The way we could cut these
emissions

My Love Of The Environment
I have always been concerned about the environment. In elementary school, I made posters encouraging students to recycle and hung them up
everywhere. I organized my first protest when I was nine. My best friend and I made picket signs to object the trimming of trees on our street. I didn't
realize at the time it was to protect the power lines, but the good intentions were there.
My concern for protecting the environment (and every tree on the street) has only grown stronger as I've grown up; now, I'm choosing to major in
Environmental Studies because I know that the environment is all we have. Humans are fully dependent on natural resources, but we continue to
overfish oceans, chop down rainforests, and use harmful practices like fracking to extract oil from the earth. We're so focused on short term financial
gains that we forget the fact that our environment influences our entire lives; every poor choice we make now will spiral out to impact future
generations. I want to major in environmental studies so that I can better understand the complex relationships between humans and the environment,
and find ways for humans to take care of the environment instead of exploiting it.
My love of the environment has always been supported by my strong interest in politics. I am especially drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of this
major; to solve environmental issues, it is necessary to understand politics, economics, and human nature. I want to have a job where I can make a

Environmental science is defined as the study of the environment and the interconnecting systems it contains, furthermore, the way people interact with
their natural surroundings and use natural resources (wise geek, 2013). Scientist in this field is highly interdisciplinary and extremely diverse, for
example, a scientist might study volcanoes or climate change. This essay will cover the following; the definition of environmental science, the
relationship between science and technology and how it affects environmental problems; the concept of environmental sustainability and why it should

Environmental Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is the process of making sure current processes of interaction with the environment are pursued with the idea of keeping
the environment as pristine as naturally possible based on ideal–seeking behavior (Wikipedia, 2010). What makes environmental sustainability so
important is that it demands that society designs activities to meet human needs while indefinitely preserving the life support systems of the planet
(Wikipedia, 2010). Human consumption can only use the nature's resources at a rate that can be replenished naturally.
Human Values affecting Society
The most devastating environmental change of all is the loss of biodiversity. The rate of species extinction has remained at one species per million per
year, furthermore, the accelerating destruction of habitats throughout the world leads to projections of the loss of two–thirds of all species on earth by
the end of this century, and millions of years to recover from the Cretaceous period (mindfully.org, 2013). As individuals, we obtain our food, directly
or indirectly from plants, for example, plant our primary use of medicines. Biodiversity also determines the properties of communities and ecosystems,
which capture energy from the sun. The world is less resilient, more homogeneous, less interesting, and with fewer opportunities for our descendants
and ourselves: where the process reaches

It seems like a small, insignificant action, but the way I see it, I save money on trash bags while getting a second use out of the plastic bags. Some
people would just throw away the bags and buy new trash bags, but doing that would send double the plastic bags to be filled in a landfill. Another
simple way to reduce landfill size and preserve resources is to refill water bottles. By refilling water bottles, people save a considerable amount of
energy and natural resources by not having to purchase single serve bottles, which are made of nonrenewable petroleum. Additionally, the plastic
manufacturing process is associated with toxic byproducts. Most people are reluctant to refill their water bottles because they assume that tap water
is not as ?clean? as bottled water. That is a common misconception, however. In 2000, a study in The Archives of Family Medicine compared 57
samples of bottled water to the tap water in Cleveland and found that while 39 samples of the bottled water were cleaner than tap, more than a dozen
had at least 10 times the bacterial levels found in the city's water. Tap water is often better regulated than bottled water and has to meet more stringent
health standards at both the federal and local levels. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protections (NJDEP) Solid Waste
Management Plan SectionB.1., ?Source Reduction is the first tier of the solid waste management hierarchy. The

How To Save Our Environment

  • 1. How to Save Our Environment The environment as we know it, isn't as green and luscious as it should be. There are steel monsters that block out the sun, huffing out dangerous smoke, and leaking out poisonous chemicals into rivers and streams, vehicles pumping out harmful fumes, people disposing of waste in a way that isn't safe/right and all other kinds of sources that ruin the planet. With the current environmental issues that plague the environment and planet, people need to do what they can to help save the Earth. We cannot depend on a higher authority now. The Hopenhagen summit which I'm sure many of you are aware of, held in Copenhagen in the year 2009, did nothing to solve or procure methods for the damages done to the planet. We are still living the way we...show more content... Starting with the kids is a good way of spreading the message early in their lives, in the hope that they carry it forward as they grow older. Recycling Recycling is a method of transforming items that can be reusable once they're disposed off by the public. This means that whatever is thrown out, like paper, tins, cardboard and so on, can be put through the process of reproducing them, to make new products. Not all plastic is recyclable, and must be avoided as much as possible. The environment cannot degrade plastic, so these are left to scatter and collect in places. Don't waste anything, and try to come up with ways on things you can use them again. Like say old magazines, newspapers and art paper can be used for projects. Try turning something you don't need anymore into a work of art and use it for another purpose instead. Be creative when it comes to things that you don't want that is in good condition, or sell them off, or better yet, give it away to charity. With these environmental ethics in mind, we should be able to do what we can individually, for the results to have a bigger impact on the planet at large. Don't think that by being environmental conscious, you are being a sissy in some way if you were to point it out to someone who's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The environment has always been a necessity for humanity since we first appeared thousands of years ago. Without the emotional support and physical resources nature has provided us, our ancestors would have never lived long enough to reproduce. Despite the importance of nature, humanity has been creating devastating effects on our planet, destroying the most beautiful and valuable object that only exist in our Solar System. Our self–centered decisions has had colossal impact on the Earth. We have polluted the oceans with our waste, removed forests that belonged to nature for man–made structures, and released toxins which depletes the amount of ozone in the Earth's stratosphere. However, even with the desire of people wanting to save the environment, many questions have been raised to debate on how humanity can protect nature. In order to reach that stage, environmentalist had to consider one question. What does it mean to care about the environment? According to most of dictionaries, environmental care is to protect and improve the conditions of the world's water, air, land, and organisms. Using this definition, environmentalist developed the concept of "going green," ideas and methods that would recreate nature through the use of making responsible decisions and healthy lifestyles. Regardless of whether people agree with the concept, does "going green" meet the definition of caring for the environment? From how the public sees it, including myself, they would agree that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Caring About Our Environment Essay Caring About Our Environment Improving and maintaining the earth's environment is becoming a more important task every day of our lives. Due to ignorance and frequent carelessness, this important task is quickly becoming a critical one. For this reason, I took it upon myself to construct a strategic plan to enlighten my peers to the problems of our environment. I did this in hopes that it would encourage everyone to act responsibly towards improving and maintaining the environment. With ongoing threats to the earth's water supply, atmosphere, and surface, I found it necessary to devise a method of environmental enlightenment. I plan to apply this method at my place of academic study, The University. If supported by the faculty...show more content... I recently discovered that one cheeseburger takes more than 700 gallons of water to produce (includes water consumed by cows, water used to irrigate the cornfields that feed the cows, and the water used to produce the beef and cheese). When considering the millions of cheeseburgers that are consumed worldwide everyday, it is evident that the earth's water supply is declining rapidly. Due to air pollution, theozone layer is also being consumed at an extreme rate. Its arch nemesis is the various fumes from cars and factories. Scientists estimate that each 1% drop in ozone levels causes a 3 to 6% rise in skin cancer cases. Since the ozone layer prevents most ultraviolet and other high–energy radiation from penetrating to the earth's surface, this is a crisis that has to be rectified. The ozone's depletion has dropped to a level so thin that if we brought it down to Earth, it would only be as deep as the thickness of three dimes. The only positive outlook concerning this matter is that the ozone has the ability to reconstruct itself when UV–C rays break the bond of O2. Single oxygen atoms combine with O2 to form ozone (UV–B rays limit this process still yet). This evidence shows that the world is in dire need of an environmental resurrection. In order for this to occur and be successful, it would require an effort by every individual nation of our world. My resolution requires that The University of South Carolina Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A clean environment is very necessary to live a peaceful and healthy life. An environment is the natural surroundings which help life to grow and nourish on this earth. It helps human beings, animals and other living things to grow and develop naturally. But now days, our everyday actions and decisions are negatively impacting the environment, causing pollution, deforestation, overfishing. We are disturbing our environment in many ways which affecting not only the environment but all living beings. Any type of disturbance in the nature's balance affects the environment totally which ruins the human lives. Ever since the first human beings, there has...show more content... All across the world, people are facing challenging environmental problems every day. Global warming is the biggest problem that our planet is facing right now. It is one of the most current and widely discussed problem. In short, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living things on earth.Climate changes like global warming is the result of human practices like emission of greenhouse gases. Global warming leads to rising temperatures of the oceans and the earth surface causing melting of polar ice caps, rise in sea levels and also lead to natural disaster such as flash floods and desertification. A decade ago, global warming was not much of a concern as it is now. No matter how much we are informed about it , we as a society seem to ignore the future disasters that global warming will acquire. Global warming is a "global" dilemma and everyone has an obligation to help reduce emissions. Human influence has always been a very serious issue to Global warming. We as human are not taking care of the earth. Human influence to this global warming is more than the natural causes .The earth has been changing for many years until now it is still changing because of modern lifestyle of human. • 6. The importance of the environment appears when many disconcerting events throughout the years have emerged: tsunami and flooding, drought and starving, pollution, declining animal populations and many others. Looking behind these events is make us realize that we have caused irreversible damaged, through our daily behaviors. We now live in a modern, consumerist and largely urban existence throughout the developed world and we consume a lot of natural resources every day. ENVS course focuses on understanding cause and effect of social, economic and environmental impacts between our need and our product technologically and economically, and how to protect the environments in which we and others live. In ENVS class we do not learn just about the environment, but also about our health as a society in ensuring that no people or areas of life suffer as a result of, and also about examining the longer–term effects of the human activities and asking questions about how it improved and to ensure the quality of life for this and future generations. Teaching students about sustainability have been very important. It develops the knowledge, values, and worldviews required to make certain that there's enough for everyone, forever. It's different to other learning areas as it focuses on protecting natural environments and creating an ecologically and socially just world through informed action. Sustainability curriculum in CU Denver develops the capabilities, skills, and knowledge for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Pollution and Environment Essay Preserving Our Environment Many people assume that the environment is in no danger. They believe that with advancing technology, we don't need to worry about renewing natural resources, recycling, and finding new ways to produce energy. They argue that one person in the world does not make a large difference. In actuality, each individual's contribution greatly affects our environment. Our natural resources are running low, and we must work together to save them and the Earth from ruin. Recycling is so important in the effort to preserve our environment for future generations. We are running out of places to putlandfills. My neighbor, Nick, believes that the U.S. has enough land for our own waste, and we...show more content... Not only does this use up 85% of their waste, leaving behind only ash, but it also preserves the fossil fuels that they would have otherwise had to use for energy to produce heat. They have been forced to come up with ideas like this because they do not have enough space for landfills, and as a result, they have greatly contributed to helping the environment. An additional alternative source of energy comes from the sun. Already there is talk about solar powered cars, and many people currently have solar panels installed in their homes. This eliminates the need to use large amounts of fossil fuels for heat and power. Recycling also saves natural resources such as trees that are cut down and not replaced at a quick enough rate. According to Greenpeace, in the past thirty years, fifteen percent of the Amazon rain forest has been destroyed by logging. Not only are the trees gone, but lost forever are the thousand of species of plants and animals that call the Amazon home. It is also infringing on the livelihood of Native Indian tribes that live deep in the forest. Recycling the paper we already have would cut down dramatically on our need to produce more, and saving these precious natural areas would then be possible. Nick also argues that recycling takes too much time and is an inconvenience. The simple answer to this is a call for better methods of recycling. Easier access and more locations would

  • 9. Essay on To Save the Earth To Save the Earth I wonder how much the front yard of my childhood home is worth. Of course, it's worth less now than before. Once, a stately tree stood in each corner: a tall lilac, a pine, a cherry tree, and a droopy evergreen. My favorite tree lived in the middle. I never knew what kind it was, but every spring it blossomed in delicate pink, and on warm afternoons, I read under its canopy. The front yard no longer looks like that, however. My father removed the lilac bush because it made the lawn too difficult to mow, and cut many of the branches from thepine and my pink–flowered tree so that friends could park their cars on our lawn rather than getting ticketed for parking on the street. Eventually, my tree died from those...show more content... He likens destroying our environmental heritage to destroying our cultural one. He questions whether we can really replace or improve upon the works of Shakespeare, Beethoven, Goethe and the Beatles the way some claim science will one day allow us to do with living creatures. Pointing to various psychological studies, Wilson also suggests that we instinctively feel an affinity for other forms of life and hence that living in balance with nature is necessary for our mental well being. Although thought–provoking, his stance isn't persuasive enough to convince someone like my dad, or even me. To convince someone like my dad that the environment is worth saving, a monetary value needs to be attached to it. Wilson does so, exploring the value of the environment as both a source of raw materials and a provider of services. Particularly compelling is his discussion of the forested watershed in the Catskill Mountains of New York, which purifies the water supply for New York City. As the watershed became more and more polluted, "Officials in New York City...could build a filtration plant to replace the Catskills Watershed, at $6 billion to $8 billion capital cost, followed by $300 million annual running costs; or else they could restore the Catskills Watershed to somewhere near its original purification capacity for $1 billion, with subsequently low maintenance costs." He also estimates that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Passion for Environment Carson and Quinn's passion for environment I believe the level of attention given to saving the environment is extremely low. Humans don't seem to be concerned all that about the environment. We are taking advantage of the environment for our own selfish reasons, and don't realize the consequences. Maybe if we just had enough knowledge about the environment, or if we just changed our way of thinking, things could be different. • 11. Essay on Proposal to Save the Environment Proposal to Save the Environment Ever since Ford put out the first main line production car, there has been a market for gasoline. Since then, the automobile has made a humongous impact on the United States, as well as the entire world. This new invention allowed the average citizen to commute to work without the hassle of mass transit and horses. However, with this new supply of automobiles came the demand for the fuel they required to run. It was not known back then that the consumption of these fuels could actually hurt the environment, or even run dry. Today it is commonly known that these fuels aren't unlimited, or good for the environment. Action must be taken to reduce and eventually eliminate these threats to human...show more content... (#2) There are many reasons why humanity should consider hydrogen cells: 1.They have a cleaner non–combustion operation. Hydrogen cells only release 45% the CO2 emissions of coal and 47% the CO2 emissions from producing energy fossil fuels. (#2) 2.The fuel cells have higher efficiencies, from 50% to 65%. Normal combustion engines have an efficiency of 12% to 15%. (#2) 3.Fuel cells are a reliable source of power. They have a 99.9999% reliability rating. (#2) Comparing these statistics to the normal combustion engines it is easy to see why fuel cells would help reduce pollution. Also, fuel cells would provide reliable power that could be supplied to so many power using technologies. There is unfortunately one major draw back to the use of fuel cells, cost. Fuel cells are currently very expensive. However, with research there can be a way to mass produce these cells, which would decrease price and increase amount. While hydrogen fuel cells rely more on technology to be created, there are other forms of energy that occur more naturally. One such form is geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is renewable heat energy from deep within the earth. Heat is brought to the near surface of the earth and intruded into the earth's crust of molten magma. (#2) Geothermal

  • 15. Human Impact On Environment Essay Since the dawn of the industrial revolution, human activities have had an undeniable impact on the environment. The destruction of the environment has far–reaching consequences, and there is little that has been done to help improve, not just maintain, the environment. As seen in the degradation of our soil, air quality, and water availability, current human behavior causes a decline in the earth's health, and current environmental protections are few and far between. Soil quality is currently declining, and good soil is something that is vital to the continuation of healthy agricultural practices and healthy people. Without good soil, there can be no base to the buildings that are created, and no roots for the plants we grow. When there is no water available, power is not generated by giant dams we build, and the irrigation we dig is useless. If there is no water, there is no life, and with no life, the world's ecosystems are destabilized, and we are thrown out of balance. The natural world relies on the careful balancing of man–made and organic, and with the regulations we currently have, the scales are tipping towards a man–made catastrophe. A prime example of human impact is the global issue of water scarcity, something that can affect first and third world countries alike. The human need for shelter and food cause expanding development, which, in turn, cause increased amounts of pollution to enter into the environment. "Population growth and development also produce water pollution, which further diminishes available water supplies" (Cooper). Human activity also tends to be one of overuse, especially in the case of water. Many industries use large quantities of water, such as agriculture, industrial and commercial needs, mining uses, and thermoelectric power generation. "In the United States, these four major categories of users combined add up to the withdrawal of more than 338,000 million gallons of fresh water a day from surface and groundwater resources. Only about 27 percent of the water withdrawn by them is actively used" (Stuart, 25). The unused water is recycled, to be put back where it came from, but it could bring pollutants back into water storage areas. With enough time, the aquifer or river Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Saving The Environment Essay When I imagine the world, I imagine a world with blue skies, green grass and trees, crystal water and fresh air. This sounds pretty good, moreover imagine a world where the skies are gone, where trees become scarce and the water is a bonus that just limited people can have it. Where the jungles and the animal species were only part of the history. Imagine a world where all people needs to wear protection like anti–pollutions masks to breathe and special clothes to protect their skin against the UV rays. A world where the planet earth temperature can increase at extremely levels that is impossible to bear for walk or play. In this time, we cannot imagine a world where all the natural resources are gone and consequently the human extension is a reality. These toughs can be just imaginary, but what if they become real? Is it possible that these thoughts really happened? Serious environmental problems are happening at this time. These complications happen for one simple reason, people do not pay attention about the importance of caring the environment and saving natural resources for future generations. There is one activity that includes reusing materials or products to save energy and raw materials, looks like a good solution for all the environmental problems occurring in our planet. Since early ages, people had been learning about the word recycle. Many people know the meaning and the purpose of recycling. The real concern is that recycling is impractical for several Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth's deterioration falls on the human race, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage in environment–friendly activities is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment. This change is urgent because "problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you've shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of control" (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardian news article, Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth's wilderness in 25 years–study, where the effects of deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals' habitats are disrupted, consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Living sustainably isn 't always easy. It seems that every aspect of life can be looked at from a sustainable perspective, and when trying to reduce your ecological footprint this can be very overwhelming. Previously, I believed that our values must be redefined to live sustainably, However, this series of lecture reflections made me realize that instead of changing our values to live sustainably, we must apply our current values in a sustainable way! Elizabeth Mrema is an environmental activist who uses her passion of law to help sustain the environment. Sharon Clark is a principle at the office of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD), and uses her background in political science to examine the government 's impact on the environment. Finally, graduates of Dalhousie's Sustainability program explain where their degree in sustainability has taken them. Through the stories of people who have applied sustainability to things they are passionate about, I have realized that we do not have to change our values to be sustainable. Sustainable living can be achieved when we combine our passions with sustainability. Elizabeth Mrema is passionate about law, and has an expertise in environmental law. She explains how environmental law has developed, and how governments must change the way they protect the environment. The government 's role in protecting the environment became apparent in the 1930's when laws were created to preserve flora and fauna Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Importance Of Protecting The Environment Essay Our environment undoubtedly has many things we can use to benefit our everyday lives. Even if our environment is not in tip–top shape, we need to start taking care of it better. If we don't many things will happen. These things include plants dying, animals going extinct, air becoming polluted, coral reefs dying, and water rapidly coming contaminated. Another problem our environment has to face, overcome, or adapt too is Global Warming. Global Warming has and will continue to impact our environment worldwide if we do not begin taking immediate action and do something to protect our environment. Protecting our environment is indeed the first action that should be taken. Protecting the environment should take place locally and globally in my opinion. There are many things that our local environment could do that would have have a tremendous impact on our environment that genuinely would not take oodles of effort. A few of these could be as easy as recycling soda cans, old school or work papers, and glass bottles and taking them to a local recycling center. When you recycle you are reusing things or making them into new things. Two more examples would be hosting or participating in a highway clean up, or planting a community garden at a park. Globally, humans are responsible for Greenhouse Gasses, pollution, and fossil fuel shortages. Globally, if everyone pitched in just a little bit, greenhouse gas emissions could go down drastically. The way we could cut these emissions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Love Of The Environment I have always been concerned about the environment. In elementary school, I made posters encouraging students to recycle and hung them up everywhere. I organized my first protest when I was nine. My best friend and I made picket signs to object the trimming of trees on our street. I didn't realize at the time it was to protect the power lines, but the good intentions were there. My concern for protecting the environment (and every tree on the street) has only grown stronger as I've grown up; now, I'm choosing to major in Environmental Studies because I know that the environment is all we have. Humans are fully dependent on natural resources, but we continue to overfish oceans, chop down rainforests, and use harmful practices like fracking to extract oil from the earth. We're so focused on short term financial gains that we forget the fact that our environment influences our entire lives; every poor choice we make now will spiral out to impact future generations. I want to major in environmental studies so that I can better understand the complex relationships between humans and the environment, and find ways for humans to take care of the environment instead of exploiting it. My love of the environment has always been supported by my strong interest in politics. I am especially drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of this major; to solve environmental issues, it is necessary to understand politics, economics, and human nature. I want to have a job where I can make a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Environmental Science Essay Environmental Fundamentals Laura Jackson Env/100 April 8, 2013 JOHN ENSWORTH Environmental Fundamentals Introduction Environmental science is defined as the study of the environment and the interconnecting systems it contains, furthermore, the way people interact with their natural surroundings and use natural resources (wise geek, 2013). Scientist in this field is highly interdisciplinary and extremely diverse, for example, a scientist might study volcanoes or climate change. This essay will cover the following; the definition of environmental science, the relationship between science and technology and how it affects environmental problems; the concept of environmental sustainability and why it should be studied; how human...show more content... Environmental Sustainability Environmental sustainability is the process of making sure current processes of interaction with the environment are pursued with the idea of keeping the environment as pristine as naturally possible based on ideal–seeking behavior (Wikipedia, 2010). What makes environmental sustainability so important is that it demands that society designs activities to meet human needs while indefinitely preserving the life support systems of the planet (Wikipedia, 2010). Human consumption can only use the nature's resources at a rate that can be replenished naturally. Human Values affecting Society The most devastating environmental change of all is the loss of biodiversity. The rate of species extinction has remained at one species per million per year, furthermore, the accelerating destruction of habitats throughout the world leads to projections of the loss of two–thirds of all species on earth by the end of this century, and millions of years to recover from the Cretaceous period (mindfully.org, 2013). As individuals, we obtain our food, directly or indirectly from plants, for example, plant our primary use of medicines. Biodiversity also determines the properties of communities and ecosystems, which capture energy from the sun. The world is less resilient, more homogeneous, less interesting, and with fewer opportunities for our descendants

  • 23. Recycling to Preserve Our Environment Essay Many people assume that the environment is not in danger. They believe that as technology advances, we do not need to worry about renewing natural resources, recycling, and finding new ways to produce energy. They state that one person in the world does not make a large difference. In reality, each individual's contribution greatly affects our environment. Our natural resources are slowly disappearing, and we must work together to save them and the Earth from ruin. Recycling is important in the effort to preserve our environment for future generations. We are running out of locations to put landfills. Recycling is a simple and effective way to reduce the amount of waste stored in landfills, yet many people do not know how easy it can...show more content... It seems like a small, insignificant action, but the way I see it, I save money on trash bags while getting a second use out of the plastic bags. Some people would just throw away the bags and buy new trash bags, but doing that would send double the plastic bags to be filled in a landfill. Another simple way to reduce landfill size and preserve resources is to refill water bottles. By refilling water bottles, people save a considerable amount of energy and natural resources by not having to purchase single serve bottles, which are made of nonrenewable petroleum. Additionally, the plastic manufacturing process is associated with toxic byproducts. Most people are reluctant to refill their water bottles because they assume that tap water is not as ?clean? as bottled water. That is a common misconception, however. In 2000, a study in The Archives of Family Medicine compared 57 samples of bottled water to the tap water in Cleveland and found that while 39 samples of the bottled water were cleaner than tap, more than a dozen had at least 10 times the bacterial levels found in the city's water. Tap water is often better regulated than bottled water and has to meet more stringent health standards at both the federal and local levels. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protections (NJDEP) Solid Waste Management Plan SectionB.1., ?Source Reduction is the first tier of the solid waste management hierarchy.
