in naval engineering, with the objective of helping those without
a background in naval engineering learn concepts specific to
engineering of boats and ships.

Understanding the Forces that Shape the Industry

Investigate the forces external to a shipbuilding or ship repair
company that create this uniquely challenged business environment:
history, politics, macro-economics, micro-economics, financial
structure, systematic risk and regulations.
September 16: Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Business Management:
Understanding Shipyard Business Operations Hampton, VA

A follow-up to Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Business Management:
Understanding the Forces that Shape the Industry, this course
probes the internal forces, risk factors and operational management
considerations that shape the performance of a specific shipbuilding
or ship repair firm.
November 15: Ship Seakeeping and Small Boat Dynamics During
Launch and Recovery
Linthicum Heights, MD
Professional Development Hours (PDHs): 4 Hours
Gain a basic understanding of ship motions in a seaway, with
particular emphasis on the impact on launch and recovery
operations. Upon completion of the course, participants will have
the ability to assess seakeeping performance requirements relating
to launch and recovery, as well as having an understanding of the
advantages and limitations of available prediction methodologies.
