Environmental pollution is increasing each year and causing significant harm to the world. There are different types of pollution, including air, water, soil, noise, and light pollution, which damage living systems. Pollution can be defined as an undesirable change in the physical, chemical, or biological characteristics of air, water, and soil that may harmfully affect life or create potential health hazards. Environmental pollution is reaching worrying levels worldwide.

Environmental Pollution
1.
2. -Environmental pollution is increasing with each passing
year and inflicting grave and irreparable injury to the
world. Environmental pollution is of different types
namely air, water, soil, noise and light-weight. These
cause damage to the living system. We have seen that
how pollution interacts with public health,
environmental medicine and the environment has
undergone dramatic change.
- Pollution can be defined as, โโAn undesirable change in
the physical, chemical or biological characteristics of air,
water and soil that may harmfully affect life or create a
potential health hazard for any living organism.โ
- Environmental pollution is reaching worrying
proportions worldwide.
Summary
5. Solid Waste management and its types
โข Solid waste management is a term that is used to refer to the
process of collecting and treating solid wastes. It also offers solutions
for recycling items that do not belong to garbage or trash. Solid waste
management is based on 4 โRโs principle- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,
Recover.
โข Types of solid waste:-
1- Biodegradable Waste:- Biodegradable materials are those,
which degrade or break down in a natural manner. In other words,
their decomposition happens with the help of natural agents like
sunlight, microorganisms, water, ozone and more which turns it into
organic manure. For instance, fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants,
animals, water, paper and more are examples of biodegradable
waste.
2- Non-Biodegradable waste:- Non-biodegradable substances
are materials which do not degrade easily. As they are synthesized
and do not occur naturally, degradation is impossible with these
products. Therefore, when they stay in the ecosystem for a long
period and do not decompose, they harm our environment. For
instance, plastics, chemicals, rubber, paints, batteries, metals and all
fall in this category.
8. Climate change and its Impact
- Climate change includes both the global warming driven by
human emissions of greenhouse gases, and the resulting large-
scale shifts in weather patterns. While there have been previous
periods of climatic change, changes observed since the mid-20th
century have been unprecedented in rate and scale. It is predicted
that by 2050, the world will be warmer by an average of 1.5 โ
4.5ยฐc.
- Part of what makes Earth so amenable is the naturally-arising
greenhouse effect, which keeps the planet at a friendly 15 ยฐC
(59 ยฐF) on average. The level of carbon dioxide in Earth's
atmosphere has been rising consistently for decades and traps
extra heat near the surface of the Earth, causing temperatures to
rise.
- Global warming is likely to affect terrestrial eco regions.
Increasing global temperature means that ecosystems will change;
some species are being forced out of their habitats (possibly to
extinction) because of changing conditions, while others are
flourishing.
10. Other types...
- Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air.
Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold
spores may be suspended as particles. Ozone, a gas, is a major
part of air pollution in cities. When ozone forms air pollution, it's
also called smog. Some air pollutants are poisonous.
- Soil contamination or soil pollution as part of land
degradation is caused by the presence of xenobiotics chemicals or
other alteration in the natural soil environment. It is typically
caused by industrial activity, agricultural chemicals or improper
disposal of waste.
- Noise pollution, also known as environmental noise or sound
pollution, is the propagation of noise with ranging impacts on the
activity of human or animal life, most of them are harmful to a
degree. The source of outdoor noise worldwide is mainly caused
by machines, transport, and propagation systems.
