13428-7092My plan to college is that unfortunately, I’m undecidedonwhat course shall I take but I listedsome coursesthat
inclines to myabilities/potentials.
I expect that after this talk, I’d obtain deeper knowledge about HUMSS and its courses offered and maybe after thistalk, I may
fullydecide what course I shalltake.
I took HUMSS as my strand because at first I wasgoing to enroll in General Academic strand(GAs)but our guidance counsellor
went to our room and advised us that ifyou’re just goingto enrollyourselfinGas, it wouldbe somuchbetter to enrollyourself
in HUMSS. I was hazyinthat time andtaking the advice of a guidance counsellor is the best resort.
After learning to the 1st talk about HUMSS, I realized that the courses offeredinHUMSSare essential to the society. There’s a
big chance that I maynot take a course that isn’t offeredbyHUMSS but the lessons that I have learnedwill be a great use to
pursue mygoalsandother necessities.
I learned from our lesson that social work is simplyhelping people with their needs. It mayhave similaritieswiththe
counselling but it hasa broadconcept. There are manyprinciple, steps andethics to follow.
After learning to our speaker about social work, I realized that social work reallyhas a broadconcept. Academicallyaside,
socialwork is not givingcangoods andsuch, but it is about renderinga service withcompassionthat will leave a mark, a mark
that will gratefullyremembered. It is touching the lives of needypeople without expectinga payback. It is to advocate, to stir
up trouble, to empower, to leaptallbuildings, to empathize, to question everything, to raise your voice andto fight
indifferences.
I realized that having education as a course is not as easyas 1,2,3. Manypeople underestimatededucationas aneasycourse
like that’s where people whoare undecidedandhave low grades fall to. Ifyou’re going to thinkeducation as a course is easy,
maybe for you living your whole life at a Jurassic park-like setting is heavenfor you. Educationis a noble course, it is a course
that gives birth to other courses andthis course is reallydifficult in a waythat you should studyhardon that course because
the knowledge of your future students lies on your hands.
After listening from the speaker about her struggles in education field, I realized that this course is not easy, even a summa
cum laude was strugglingfinishing that 4-year course. She shares her struggles together withlessons that give enlightenment.
Her experiences andstruggles serve as inspirations to students whoare aspiring to become teachers.
The words I remembered from the 1st speaker during the talk are empathize, empower andadvocate. Words that sums up
what social work do, words that shouldbe remember, words that shouldapply.
The word I remembered from the 2nd speaker during the talk is grit. Grit is reallyneededin pursuing your dreams. Whether
you’re the smartest andmost talentedperson if you’re not grit, then the chance of becomingis successful is low. Being grit will
your ladder to success.
After the seminar, I learned that these guest speakers are the living proofthat there is noshortcut to success. Theyexperience
a lot of struggles before theyreach success. There is reallyno single formula that definesthe pathto personalsuccess. Hard
work and success go handin handbecause life is designed to be tough. Nothing is offeredona silver platter;whichmeans th at
people have to keeptryingto succeed. In actual sense, there are somanychallenges inlife that onlyhardworkingpeople can
overcome them. This explains whythere are veryfew successful people inthe worldtoday. Some ofthe things that one must
do for them to be successful include going through the planningprocessand doing some trainingandresearch. One must also
have the right attitude or mindset about their goals. Unless you work hard, it is impossible for one to engage in such things. If
anything, manypeople would rather give up than try. Precisely, hardworkis a necessityfor anindividual to be successful inlife.
Inspiring words/greatest words
If you can dream it, you candoit
Work hard in silence, let your success be your voice
Failure is not the opposite of success, it is part of success
After the seminar, I decided that I will be...
BEAUTIFUL AND GRIT
