language
Brief: Magazine
Harrison Wingrove
2. Masthead: This is the title/logo
of the Empire magazine. Like most
magazines it is usually located at
the top of the page.
Main cover line: This is
usually the 2nd largest piece of
text on the page, it describes what
the main story or article is within
the magazine.
Colour Scheme: The use of
green within this magazine
matches the model's hair, this
ties the whole magazine together
and the colour green can also
connote envy and money in
which these are strong themes
within the 'Joker' film that this
magazine is written about. The
other colour in the colour
scheme is white, this also relates
back to the main image, as the
joker has green hair and white
makeup.
Main image: This is the
photograph of Joaquin Phoenix
that is occupying the large
majority of the page, it shows the
audience that this magazine is
about the joker film without the
audience having to read anything.
Cover Lines: These are boxes of
text that describe all of the other
articles within the magazine, on
this magazine they are in the
colour scheme of green and white.
Font types: This magazine uses
entirely sans-serif font types, this is
because it's about a comic-book movie,

4. Masthead: This is the title/logo
of the Little White Lies magazine.
Like most magazines it is usually
located at the top of the page.
Main cover line: This is in the
form of 'doodles' in the
background. This is an
unconventional way of creating a
main coverline, however it still
conveys the necessary
information.
Colour Scheme: The use of
red on the background conveys
blood and danger, as within this
film there is a murder. This front
cover also puts the main cover

make it distinct from the rest of
the magazine and allow the
reader to focus on it, this is
usually used to allow the
audience to focus on his
emotions and his facial
expression itself.

photograph of Daniel Craig with
some cartoony-like clothing drawn
over the top of him, this is to show
