2. Misson Statement
• The Cato Academy of Scholars affords students a high-quality education
in a structured and unified learning environment. The academy instills a
strong work ethic and a desire to contribute to one’s community. CAS
cultivates students that are distinctive in their critical-thinking skills,
confident decision-makers and inquisitive problem-solvers who are
interested in others and the world around them and thus, prepared to
thrive in the collegiate environment. By providing students with a wide
breadth of essential core knowledge, CAS empowers students to face the
challenges of their day and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable
society.
3. General Curriculum Goals
• The Cato Academy of Scholar's goals are to cultivate a student who is
knowledgeable and prepared for a successful life. To achieve this, we are
dedicated to a curriculum that will allow students to gain the skills and
experiences necessary. Students will achieve a wide breadth of knowledge;
spanning from science, to the arts, to business, to life skills. In achieving
these, students will understand the importance of natural sciences, social
skills, humanities, mathematics, history, and more. They will also become
valuable members in a community. This important task of ours is broken
down into five skills that students will gain to achieve this goal.
4. Communication
• These are the skills to share and receive ideas with others in a
variety of ways and have others or themselves understand the
information correctly. This can be done through reading, writing,
speaking, and listening.
5. Creative & Critical Thinking
• This is the ability to bring something original into creation and
using the skills and knowledge gained to solve problems, invent
new concepts, or simply improve the world around them.
7. Team Player
• Scholars will be able to work with others to achieve a common goal.
They will learn the skills to be able to effectively work with others
and navigate through disagreements that naturally arise when
working with others in a tactful way.
8. Responsibility
• A responsible student will self-evaluate their own morals and ethics
when making choices. They are aware of others and how their
actions may affect others. They own up to their own misdoings and
celebrate their successes. Responsible students also take charge of
their own education and realize the only person in control of their
future is themselves.

10. Philosophy
• The Cato Academy of Scholars promotes an educational philosophy
grounded in the belief that the knowledge attained at the academy should
be used for others as well as for oneself. With the application of
increasing levels of individual responsibility and the expectation that every
student will master essential educational concepts, CAS scholars maturate
into productive, resourceful, innovative and compassionate intellectuals
who are ready for the most demanding collegiate challenges. When
confident in the core knowledge and skills they have attained, students are
empowered to take risks, grow from failure and achievements, and enjoy a
purpose-driven life with a focus broader than themselves.
