2. When did Ariana Grande’s career first start?
Ariana Grande started out her acting career in 2008 in the role of Charlotte
in 13 on Broadway. From 2010 until 2013 Ariana played Cat Valentine on
the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious, iCarly (2011) and is now acting in another
program in the role of Cat Valentine on the spinoff Sam & Cat.
How did Ariana Grande’s music career start?
Ariana Grande has always enjoyed singing and music has always been her
first love from a very young age . As part of her acting role on Broadway she
got to sing in the musicals. In 2007 Ariana created a YouTube channel and
was known as ‘Osnapitzari’ she posted fun homemade videos known as
‘freaky forever’ created with her brother and friends. In late 2008 Ariana then
started to post videos of herself singing covers and songs written by herself
as preview cuts from her demo CD. In early 2010 Ariana then started to most
more and more videos of herself singing into her webcam. Along side this
Ariana was singing with the rest of the cast from Victorious to create a third
CD soundtrack.
3. Record Labels and first singles
In August 2011 Ariana Grande signed to a Universal Republic Record label
after being discovered by Scooter Braun on YouTube and through
Nickelodeon. Ariana Grande then started to work on her very first album.
Ariana released her very first single ‘The Way’ featuring Mac Miller on the
27th March 2013. Later that month the music video for ‘The Way’ was
released. On the 30th August 2013 Ariana then released her very first album
‘Yours Truly’ it has been given a 4.5 start rating on iTunes. Ariana’s second
single from the album was ‘Popular Song’ which she featured on with MIKA.
A music video in the style of Tim Burton and influence from the musical and
stage production ‘Wicked’. Ariana’s third single and music video to be
released was a duet between herself and Nathan Sykes from The Wanted
‘Almost Is Never Enough’ This was the soundtrack song for the film ‘The
Mortal Instuments: City of Bones’. Ariana’s fourth single from the album
‘Baby I’ was next to be released along with a music video for the track.
5. Tours
Ariana was the opening act for Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ Tour in 2013. Ariana
then released 11 dates for her own promotional tour called ‘The Listening
Sessions’ featuring 12 songs from her album ‘Yours Truly’.
7. Inspirations and Influences
Ariana Grande has been inspired by many musicians and singers such as
Mariah Carey, Indie Arie , Whitney Houston and Fergie. Ariana is also
influenced by English singer, composer and songwriter Imogen Heap. Ariana
grew up listening to urban pop music and describes her album as “A
throwback feel. It's all urban-pop and it's a good vibe.” Ariana’s fashion icons
are Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.
