Grassroots Website Plan
1. Home button - will
always be on the
page so the user can
navigate with ease.
Menu bar - can go to
different sections of the
website. Gives the user a
basic idea of what the
documentary is about /
what it wants to focus on.
Links to social media - helps with digital
convergence. They are also fairly new, trendy
platforms that would appeal to the younger,
culturally engaged target audience. Soundcloud
is also a platform commonly used by new talent.
White title on the header as it
stands out on top of the photo, but
all accents are green. Ties in with
the name ‘Grassroots’. This font
and style will be used throughout
the website and also in the
documentary to create a distinct
stylistic choice.
Will have image of one of the artists as the title header -
immediately establishes the focus of the documentary
and is also an eye-catching introduction. I would like a
shot of the artist(s) producing their music, going about
their daily lives, or I will have a photoshoot in order to
include some more professional photos for the website.
2. Example of Website Page - ‘Up and
Coming Artists’
Will give each artist their own individual
feature. Each section will have a
photoshoot-style photo as the link, and
the content will differ depending on the
individuals’ skills / interests. e.g. one
person may have an interview, another
person may feature their demos etc.
3. Easter Egg Ideas…
On the ‘Up and Coming Artists’ page, I will have
photographs linking to another page on the website.
However, within these pages I could include additional
photographs that are Easter Eggs leading to a YouTube
video explaining how to produce your own song; how to
get noticed as a small artist etc.
