Bella is a 10 year old Caucasian girl in fourth grade. She lives with her mother and father,
four brothers, sister and grandfather. They live in College Park Georgia, which is considered an
urban area with a high crime rate. Bella currently makes 80% in Math, 76% in science, she make
50% in literature and she makes 60% in history. Bella loves history and science but she struggles
in these subjects due to her weakness in reading. Bella reads at 11 words per minute, and she has
trouble spelling. Bella struggles with reading an appropriate level for her age. Bella ends up
flipping her letters around and backwards when attempting to spell. Bella has a hard time in
science because it requires a lot of reading; however she enjoys the experiments in science and
discovering new things. Bella has a hard time retaining what she has read and information
learned in history making it hard for her to make the best grades. Bella turns in 80% of her
assignments, but she always turns in her homework late. She makes low marks on tests unless
they are orally read to her. Bella enjoys working one on one with the teacher, and she enjoys
hands on assignments more than critical thinking assignment.
Annual Goal: Bella will achieve by the end of the school year the ability to read 100
words per minutes. We will give her a designated time in which she will be tutored one on one,
as well as giving all the students the option to do demonstrations of their understand rather than
having them required to only display mastery in a critical thinking setting.
