Monahans Sandhill state park is located in Ward and Winkler counties in Texas. The park features sand dunes up to 70 feet high that were created by wind blowing sand around the area. While the wind in the region is low, it has slowly built up the sand dunes over time through erosion and deposition processes. The park allows visitors to see large sand dunes formed through these natural geological actions.
2. This is a map of my
location. I circled it.
This is located in ward county
and winkler county. The state
it is in is Texas.
3. My geological feature is
monahans Sandhills state
park.
The monahans Sandhills state park
has sand dunes up to 70.ft high!
The wind blow in monahans
Sandhill state park is very low
which means not as much sand
dunes are created.
4. I predict this is erosion
because the sand dune is This is a picture of some sand
getting blown away by the dunes in monahans Sandhill state
wind. I also think its park. Monahans Sandhill state
deposition because the sand park is a location where you can
dunes are piling up. see Sand dunes everywhere!
The monahans sand
dunes were created
because of the wind
blowing. The sand
around it creates
more sand dunes.
That is why there is
so many sand dunes.
5. This is what some of the sand dunes
look like on Monahans Sandhills state
park. I would create a model of my
geological feature and I would get
some sand and put it in a pile, get a fan
and blow it a little to represent what
is going on in the Monahans sandhill
state park.
I think it is a slow process
to make these sand dunes
because there is not a lot
of wind at Monahans
Sandhill state park to make
that much sand dunes in 1
or 2 days.
