Scousers are people from Liverpool they are stereotyped in quite a negative light.
Most scousers are stereotyped to be unshaven, often with a moustache. Their hair
styles are often mocked, as they are stereotyped to have mullets and dodgy hair
styles. Their fashion is also mocked often regarded as wearing tracksuits or shell
suits all the time. Scousers are usually stereotyped to be easy going and up for a
laugh however are also known to be violent and argumentative, liking to start a
fight from anything. Scousers are also referred to a lot as thieves, scrounging
benefits of the government. Scousers accents are also viewed as quite strong and
often hard to understand what is being said. The accent is one of the main factors
why scousers are viewed as unintelligent, as it is not clear. Scousers are also
viewed as heavy drinkers and not a fan of the Welsh and Southerners.
3. Geordies
• Geordies are known to have very strong accents. They are known to
be heavy drinkers, sex driven and generally partiers. They are often
seen as argumentative. They are often viewed as unintelligent.
Violence amongst both men and women. They are often seen as
very attention seeking with the men being muscular and over
confident and the women have dyed hairs and piercings. The
language often associated with Geordies is often negative using a
lot of swearing and provocative language.
4. Brummies
• Brummies are people from Birmingham. They are often
mocked for their accent as it sounds “Unintelligent”. A poll
was done in 2008 which ranked the Brummie accent as the
dumbest. Due to Birmingham’s highly regarded industrial
background, brummies' are described as Strong however
stupid. Brummies are often associated with being quite poor
and living in run down council estates. Brummies are often
viewed as heavy drinkers, working class people who are
heavily associated with football due to teams such as
Birmingham FC and Aston Villa.
5. Mancunians
• The stereotypes associated with mancunians are often quite
negative. Often they are associated with living in run down council
estates full of benefit scroungers and chavs. Often a lot of youth
crime. They are often associated with football, with them having
rivalries with Liverpool and the opposite Manchester club (United
or City). They tend to have a strong dislike for Liverpool and
Scousers. The soap opera Coronation Street is based in Manchester
and gives mancunians the stereotype of being a bit lazy and stupid.
They are often associated to be a big music city with bands such as
Oasis. Manchester as a whole is also associated a lot with the Irish
as its coast is close to Irelands.
