6. Nasir Hossain is
one of the young
all-rounder in
Bangladesh who,
if handled
correctly, could
be a long-term
prospect for the
national team in
all forms
7. That he had a feel for
sports was obvious
pretty early in Nasir's
life: he joined
Bangladesh's only
sports institute,
BKSP, in 2004 as a 13-
year-old
8. In a few years,
Nasir quickly
became an
important member
of the institute's
league team and
played a key role
in its promotion to
the Premier
League
10. His move to
Abahani, one of
the biggest
clubs in the
country, was a
move fraught
with risk but
Nasir held his
nerve in tight
games and
soon became a
regular for them.
11. In one of his early
games, his
courage to open
the bowling
against Sanath
Jayasuriya (who
was playing for
Mohammedan
Sporting Club) was
seen as a mark of
his promise.
12. He had limited
opportunities in
the Rajshahi side,
scoring a solitary
first-class hundred.
He joined his
native Rangpur for
the 2011-12 season
after the expansion
of the NCL.
13. As a lower-middle-
order batsman,
Nasir can bat in
different gears
depending on the
match situation; as
an off spinner he
has control and
accuracy; and his
fielding is perhaps
the most exciting
part of his game
14. Nasir is a big
fan of Pakistani
great
Mohammad
Yousuf and
hopes to
emulate his
batting style.
15. Nasir Hossain was a
part of the 13-man
Bangladesh squad that
played in the 2010
Asian Games in late
November. The team
played Afghanistan in
the final and won by
five wickets, gaining
the country's first gold
medal at the Asian
Games
16. As is the case with
young Bangladeshi
players, Nasir was
picked for the ODI
series against
Zimbabwe and
showed a calm head
in scoring 63 on his
debut to rescue
Bangladesh from a
wobbly 58/6
17. Bangladesh hosted
West Indies in
October 2011 for a
T20I, 2 ODIs and 2
Tests. In the 2nd
ODI, Nasir scored
his 2nd ODI fifty,
when Bangladesh
were struggling on a
difficult wicket. He
took his first wicket
in ODIs in the last
match
18.
19. In April 2012,
he was
awarded a
central
contract by
BCB for the
first time.
24. In the ODI
series of the
same tour,
he scored a
terrific
knock of 73
off just 59
balls in the
1st match.
25. In the same tour of
third ODI , he
scored an
important 33 runs
which helped
Bangladesh team to
win by 7 wickets
against Srilanka in
Srilanka for the first
time .
26. In 5th odi against
West Indies in
2012 , he led his
team to victory
by which
bangladesh team
won the series by
3-2 .
27. Nasir was part of
the squad that
failed to qualify to
the knock-out
stages of the 2014
World T20. They
got through to the
Super 10's but
failed to go further
28. He was also in and
out of the team for
his inconsistent
performances. Nasir
performed poorly on
the tour to West
Indies and was not
included in the side
for the series
against Zimbabwe
29. Nasir is known as
the consistent and
the best finisher of
Bangladesh national
team . He is very
talented batsman .
He is also artistic in
fielding and part
time bowling . So he
is trusted by the
selectors to keep
him in ICC Cricket
World Cup 2015
squad though he is
not in form .
